Laura M
Part-Time Family Help / Mentor – Live-In or Live-Out
About Me
North London | Approx. 25 hours/week | January start
We're looking for a very particular person to join our family and gradually become a trusted adult to our two autistic boys, aged 11 and 12, while also helping with everyday family life.
My Requirements
Our boys have very different needs. One son can be anxious and sensitive. The other has a PDA profile and can find everyday demands overwhelming — he can be explosive, resistant or rude when dysregulated.
We need someone warm, calm, flexible, emotionally robust and very difficult to rattle — someone who doesn't take things personally and instinctively knows when to back off rather than push harder.
Both boys spend lots of time independently, particularly gaming. We'd love them eventually to choose to spend time with you — gaming, dogs, football, trampolining, trains and fishing are big interests — but we know building trust may take time.
When they don't need you, the Family Help side of the role includes laundry, dishwasher/kitchen, simple food preparation, errands, shopping/collections, helping with our dog and generally keeping family life moving. We already have a cleaner.
I (Mum) work part-time and will still be around a lot.
We are open to live-in or live-out for the right person. Dpuble ensuite room + food are all included for live-in. Driver desirable. Fluent English essential.
SEND/PDA experience is helpful, but personality and instincts matter more to us than the perfect CV/experience.
Please don't just send us a message saying you are interested. We're looking for an unusually good fit, so please send a few thoughtful paragraphs explaining why this particular role appeals to you and why you think you could be a good fit for our boys and family.
We will only take forward applicants who include this.
We look forward to hearing from you!
