About Me
Hi,
My name is Caitlin and I have been providing private tuition and childcare full-time for 7 years (after previously working in schools).
I am an examiner with three major exam boards within the UK, and I specialise in English and History tuition. I also have a PhD in English and History.
Having previously worked in primary schools, I love sharing my enthusiasm with younger learners and then preparing older learners for their GCSEs and A levels.
My Experience
Looking after my younger brother (7 years younger) since a young age, he has a speech impediment and autism.
Looking after my foster brother, who had Aspergers.
Looking after my current foster brother, he has epilepsy and Aspergers.
Working with children with special needs has made me fully aware of how adaptable and flexible a babysitter needs to be. I am happy planning days/trips /activities that cater to a child's needs whilst helping them in their development.
2013 - I worked in an Orphanage in Tanzania with children under the age of 2 for several months, and in a school with children under the age of 12.
2014 - I babysat for a 9 month old girl several days a week in NYC. She was a real delight, full of energy and loved nothing more than being out and about.
2013-17 - I worked in a language school in Devon, with children aged between 7-17, I worked in the office, assisting the welfare team and supervising activities with the children.
2015-16 - I babysat for several lovely families in Durham, one family had 3 boys (2 in primary school, 1 in secondary), another had a baby and a 2 year old (who I spent most time with), another had a lovely young girl and her younger brother.
2017-18 Support Worker for student with ASD at university.
2018-2019 -1:1 LSA in primary school for 10 year old with ADHD/ASD.
2020-2026 - Full-time private tutor.
2020-2026 - Examiner at GCSE and A level.
My Qualifications
First Aid at Work certificate (this is the highest one required, for school first aiders)
Safeguarding Children Certificate
PhD in English Literature and History.
MA in Translation Studies
BA in English Literature with French
A levels in French, English, and History

- Babysitting from £17.00 per hour
- Tutoring from £40.00 per hour
£40/h for private tuition (with block bookings at discounted rates)
£17/h for babysitting.

Caitlin has been working with my autistic son on a home run program. It is a delight to have her on our team. She is full of fun and enthusiasm. Completely dependable, she is always there and goes the extra mile for you and your child. I appreciate having her on my team. I would strongly recommend her to babysit or work with any child :)
