About Me
My name is Maria, I am Spanish and I have been a childminder since September 2007.
I live with my husband and 2 sons aged 21 and 17 in a 5 bedroom house.
Children have lots of space in the playroom, living room, kitchen and garden and suitable toys and resources to keep children engaged and learning while at play.
I am very organised and keep a suitable routine that allows children to learn, thrive and rest in a home from home environment. My main aim is to help children be independent and I achieve this by encouraging them to explore, work things out and think for themselves in a simple but safe and exciting environment.
I believe that a good healthy diet, fresh air, lots of play and rest are the foundations that children need to thrive and be happy and that’s why I take the children out daily and provide a good range of healthy home cooked meals that include plenty of fruit and veg.
In our outings we also meet up with other childminders and their children, either in their houses, mine, soft plays or toddler groups, so that they get the opportunity to meet different people, do a variety of activities and learn social skills.
While in my setting children have the opportunity to play full size instruments (drum set being the favourite) as well as to learn Spanish words and songs.
I communicate and exchange information with parents on a daily basis using the Baby’s Days system where I upload pictures and diaries. Parents can log in on their phones and keep updated on their child’s day and progress at their own convenience. I work around the Early Years Foundation Stage and I attend courses, webinars and conferences to keep my knowledge fresh. I have an NVQ level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development. Following the Early Learning goals, I observe the children in my care daily and keep track of their progress.
Following my Outstanding in 2011, I was again rated Outstanding in March 2016 and Good in my latest inspection in May 2022.
I have Public Liability insurance through Morton Michel as well as an Up to date Paediatric First Aid certificate.
I have a wide range of Policies and Procedures that get updated on a yearly basis and cover all aspects of my childminding.

My Experience
As a teenager I always did babysitting jobs back in Spain and my families also took me away with them during the summer holidays to look after their children.
When I first came to the UK I also worked as an au pair with a lovely family.
Then I’ve worked in very diverse jobs such as secretary, in catering and even as cabin crew!
I always knew I’d be back working with children as I just love them. Of course, I also have experience raising my own boys and when my second son was born I decided it was time to hang my wings and follow my passion. I have now been childminding for 17 years and have never looked back.
My Qualifications
Children care, learning and development NVQ level 3, Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene. I also have certificates from many other relevant courses I do on a regular basis.
My Availability
I work Tuesday to Thursday 8am to 5pm

A friend had recommended Maria to me and from the moment I met her I was convinced she was the one! Warm, funny, kind, creative, active and caring, Maria is the most wonderful person. We have been so fortunate to have her looking after our son, who absolutely adores her.
Maria has created a lovely environment for the children in her care and takes them on fastastic trips out and about. Her husband Peter regularly gets involved entertaining the kids with his juggling skills!
Maria has fostered a very special bond with my son and I couldn’t be happier knowing that he is in such a caring and lovely environment.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Maria - she is one of a kind!

I feel so very lucky to have found Maria and for her to have looked after my little boy for the last year. She goes above and beyond to ensure the children in her care have a home from home experience “plus” 😊 she always plans lovely activities both inside and out often with a unique twist such as meditation cloud gazing 😃 the children look so happy in the pictures she sends. They get lots of fresh air discovering the world and indoors, Maria’s home offers a warm and friendly place for them to play. Her playroom is very well equipped and beautifully kept, and the garden is a lovely extension of her home. Maria cooks delicious homemade meals and provides health snacks and the occasional treat which is lovely. My little boy was always so happy there and made great friends with the others too. And most of all, he seemed to have brilliant fun and lots of laughter.
She’s very experienced and if happy to discuss any issues, and offer her advice. She’s quite clearly made to care for children. I cannot recommend her enough.

Our daughter was 13 months when she started with Maria and has settled in very happily. Maria is a wonderful childminder and provides a lovely environment for the children she looks after. She is kind and patient with the children and thoughtful and creative in the activities that she plans for them.
The children play outdoors every day and our daughter always looks like she is having lots of fun. Maria sends lots of photos each day and a detailed daily note of the activities and food for the day. All her food is home cooked and healthy.
Our daughter has thrived under Maria's care and we would happily recommend her.

We couldn’t be happier with Maria and feel so lucky that she had a space to take out 1 year old daughter. Our daughter settled so quickly with Maria and I’m sure this is largely due to her warm and friendly nature, her positive attitude and sense of fun and her lovely welcoming home. Her playroom for the children is very sweet and well equipped. Maria cooks such lovely home cooked, nutritious meals and does a great range of activities with them including going to toddler groups, park outings, picnics, garden play and crafts at home. She is so good with all the children she has and no wonder our daughter is so happy there! Would highly recommend Maria 😀

Maria has looked after my eldest daughter for over two years and my little one is starting with her in a few months. She is a great childminder and treats the children like her own. She takes them out daily to a variety of places and meets with other childminders and their children so they get the benefit of a close, home environment but have the opportunity to mix with lots of children. They do lots of arts and crafts and bring home some lovely creations. She has a lovely garden for the children to play in when the weather is nice. The meals she provides are healthy, fresh and home-cooked - I wish I could eat there!! She is encouraging and supportive of the children and my daughter is so happy with her. I would recommend Maria to anyone.
