About Me

Hello and a big welcome to Phia’s friends (Nanny service)

A little about me;

I'm 29, I have been the family and friend babysitter since the age of 13 grew up surrounded by many children looked after them, I have been a brownie leader which is girls aged 7-10 which is providing activities and safeguarding them and also do rainbows which is girls aged 5-7, so experience with most ages also, completed my work experience at college in nurseries.

I have been with many different families over the years all different ages, helping the children to reach their full potential! I have a few adhoc families at the moment but plenty of time to take on more! I am pretty flexible and would love to become a part of a family who would value my experience so if this is something you are looking for please feel free to message me.

Prior to the nannying, I worked as a deputy manager of a nursery for a few months. Before this I was third in charge and a baby room leader of a baby room for 3 years but all in all I have worked in nurseries for the past 6 years which has gained me my level 3 childcare qualification.

Phia’s Friends Ethos;

- I am a huge believer in a child’s childhood experiences shaping their adulthood life. With this in mind I like to focus my care around a gentle approach using lots of positive reinforcement and minimal negative language. I like to use terms such as “No Thank-you” “That’s not kind” and encourage children to use their “Kind hands” and “Walking feet”.

- I believe expressing emotions and making sure they are met appropriately is important. Children will be provided with a safe space in which they can show their emotions and talk about them in a non judgmental way.

- I do not believe in using punishments such as “Time out”

- Working with the parents closely to ensure their child’s needs are met is important for not only myself but the children too.

- Children all progress at different speeds, if a child is not progressing in line with the EYFS development matters then I will use this as a guide to what areas need to be targeted in order to support their development.

I do like to take the children out and about as long as parents are happy to baby groups or just for a nature walk. I do have my own stroller if it’s easier and have age appropriate car seats aswell (I promote rear facing and have car seats which provide a good fit from birth up to 25kg).

My Experience

I have given 6 years to nurseries over the years. The most recent nursery (jan 2022) was for 0-5 year olds and I worked as the deputy manager for 6 months before I had to leave due to personal circumstances. As I have been in nursery settings for 6 years, I have a range of experience with most ages including nappy changing in correct ways bottle feeding, educational learning, healthy eating etc... I have spent time in the 2-5 year olds room running the room alongside supporting the manager and running the nursery when she is not present. Previously I was a room leader in the baby room (0-2 years) for 3 years. So I have to make bottles and feed and settle children for sleeps etc and keep them entertained and promote their learning.

I have also been a brownie leader. This role allowed me the opportunity to manage and arrange various activities such as group games, explorations and team building. I was responsible for leading a team of girls aged 7-10 years old and am their first port of contact for any queries or questions that they may have. I have completed my adult leader qualification which enables me to have an even more responsible role with the young people.

I was also a Rainbow leader. This role came about after being an Assistant Brownie leader for a few years I was asked to open up and take on the Rainbow group at our unit, this enabled me to take on responsibility of the girls aged 5-7 years old and set up activities and entertain the girls while also developing their intellectual needs. This has built up my confidence and knowledge of the needs of children that age.

I have also been a holiday nanny for a family so they could enjoy their time away aswell as with their baby. And I’ve been a nanny at multiple weddings feeling part of the ceremony, following the child around mingling with the guests then taking the child back to the home so the wedding night isn’t cut short for the newly weds!

I can also do overnight babysitting if given notice prices can be discussed for this if needed.

Sophie has been our primary nanny/ baby sitter since the latter half of last year.
Sophia has never let us down, always on time. Flexible and available to work around our needs.
She always turns up with a smile ready to play and entertain the kids.
Couldn’t recommend her enough.

I had never left my two boys with a babysitter before, but after meeting Sophia I felt at ease. She is very friendly and fun, the kids absolutely loved her. I would definitely recommend Sophia to others needing a babysitter.

I have never used a babysitter for my toddler before, so of course I was very nervous. But Sophia is great, very friendly and relaxed. I would definitely recommend her and hope to book her again in the future.
