A little about me…
I’m 29 years old and have dedicated my career to working with children. Caring for little ones has always been a huge part of my life – I was the family and friends’ babysitter from the age of 13, grew up surrounded by children, and have always known that childcare was the career I wanted to pursue.
I hold a Level 3 qualification in Childcare and have over six years of professional nursery experience. During this time I worked my way up to Baby Room Leader, then Third in Charge, before becoming Deputy Nursery Manager. Alongside my nursery experience, I have supported many families as a nanny, caring for children of all ages and helping them to learn, grow and thrive within their own home environment.
Outside of work, I have volunteered as both a Rainbow and Brownie Leader, planning activities, supporting children’s development and wellbeing, and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for every child.
I currently work with several wonderful families on an ad hoc basis, but I have availability to welcome new families. I pride myself on building strong, trusting relationships with both children and parents and becoming a reliable, long-term part of family life wherever possible.
My approach to childcare
I truly believe that a child’s early experiences help shape the person they become. My approach is centred around kindness, respect and gentle guidance.
I focus on:
* Positive reinforcement and encouragement.
* Helping children understand and express their emotions in a safe, supportive environment.
* Using calm, respectful language and setting clear, consistent boundaries.
* Supporting children to build confidence, independence and resilience.
* Working closely with parents to ensure consistency and meet each child’s individual needs.
* Recognising that every child develops at their own pace and using the EYFS framework as a guide to support their learning and development where appropriate.
Rather than relying on punishments such as time-outs, I believe in teaching children through connection, understanding and positive role modelling.
I love getting children out exploring the world around them, whether that’s visiting local playgroups, parks, libraries, farms, soft play, or simply enjoying nature walks. I also enjoy planning creative activities, messy play, baking, reading stories and encouraging imaginative play tailored to each child’s interests.
For families who are happy for me to drive, I have my own pushchair available if needed and provide high-quality, age-appropriate car seats. I am passionate about car seat safety and promote extended rear-facing travel where possible.
A little personal note
I believe honesty and open communication are the foundation of any good working relationship. I am currently on my own IVF journey towards becoming a parent myself. This means there may occasionally be clinic appointments that I need to attend, although I always do my best to arrange these around my work commitments and will provide as much notice as possible whenever I can.
I’m looking for families who value open communication and mutual understanding, just as I offer flexibility, reliability and commitment in return.

My Experience
I have over six years of professional nursery experience working with children from birth to five years old. Most recently, I have worked as Deputy Manager at a nursery, where I supported the day-to-day running of the setting, led the team in the manager’s absence, ensured high standards of care, and worked closely with both children and families. Unfortunately, I had to leave the role due to personal circumstances.
Prior to this, I spent three years as Baby Room Leader, caring for children aged 0–2 years. This role involved planning engaging activities to support early development, preparing bottles, feeding, settling babies to sleep, carrying out nappy changes to the highest hygiene standards, and creating a warm, nurturing environment where each child could thrive.
Throughout my nursery career, I have gained extensive experience across all age groups from birth to five years, supporting children’s learning and development through the EYFS framework while promoting healthy eating, independence, communication and confidence.
Alongside my professional childcare career, I have volunteered as both a Brownie Leader and a Rainbow Leader with Girlguiding.
As a Brownie Leader, I planned and delivered a variety of activities including games, crafts, outdoor adventures and team-building experiences for girls aged 7–10 years. I completed my Adult Leadership Qualification, allowing me to take on additional responsibility for safeguarding, planning and leading sessions.
I later opened and led a Rainbow unit for girls aged 5–7 years, organising fun, engaging activities that supported their confidence, creativity, friendships and personal development. These experiences further strengthened my leadership skills and deepened my understanding of supporting children of different ages and personalities.
In addition to my regular nanny work, I have also worked as a holiday nanny, accompanying a family on holiday to provide childcare so they could enjoy both quality family time and some well-earned time to themselves.
I have also worked as a wedding nanny on several occasions. This involved caring for children throughout the ceremony and reception, helping them feel comfortable while interacting with guests, keeping them entertained, and then settling them at home or in their accommodation so parents could relax and enjoy the rest of their special day.
I am available for babysitting, including overnight care with sufficient notice. Overnight rates can be discussed depending on the family’s individual requirements.

My Availability
I currently have availability for regular nannying, ad hoc childcare, babysitting and overnight care.
I aim to be as flexible as possible and am happy to discuss the needs of each family individually. Whether you’re looking for long-term support, school holidays, emergency childcare or occasional babysitting, I’d love to see if I can help.
I do currently work with a small number of existing families, so some dates are booked in advance. However, I always do my best to accommodate additional requests where possible.
As I am currently undergoing IVF treatment, I may occasionally need to attend clinic appointments. I always endeavour to arrange these around my work commitments wherever possible and will give plenty of notice if any appointments affect my availability.

Sophia helped us with our five month old twins for a full week while we were in the UK. It is not easy to mind twins on your own but Sophia handed all aspects with professionalism and the boys clearly loved her! The communication on schedules and handover was also excellent. Sophia will be our first call when we are next in the UK visiting family!

Sophia is kind, thoughtful and reliable. She is always on time with interesting and varied activities to do. She's also very adaptable to our needs and we don't know what we'd do without her! Our kids absolutely love her and sit at the doorstep until it's time for her to arrive. Would recommended her to anyone.

Sophia was incredible when we needed a babysitter to cover a wedding- was so sweet, brought loads of great toys, and looked after Louis perfectly. We’d highly recommend (as wound Louis!) and we’re sad we don’t live closer to work with Sophia more regularly.

Sophie has been our primary nanny/ baby sitter since the latter half of last year.
Sophia has never let us down, always on time. Flexible and available to work around our needs.
She always turns up with a smile ready to play and entertain the kids.
Couldn’t recommend her enough.

I had never left my two boys with a babysitter before, but after meeting Sophia I felt at ease. She is very friendly and fun, the kids absolutely loved her. I would definitely recommend Sophia to others needing a babysitter.

I have never used a babysitter for my toddler before, so of course I was very nervous. But Sophia is great, very friendly and relaxed. I would definitely recommend her and hope to book her again in the future.

I was extremely worried about leaving my son with anyone as this was his very first time. I have picked Sophia and after meeting her I nstantly felt so much more at ease and confident that my boy will be in good hands. Sophia kept me updated the whole time. She has done an amazing job and earned my trust. My boy loved her and I will definitely be hiring Sopia again. She's absolutely lovely.

She has done nothing short of constantly going the extra mile. My kids love her immensely. She is always on time. Always asking if you need anything else. One time I was running out of milk, and couldn't go to get any so i asked her if she could help us in our very difficult situation and she was glad to help. I'm a single dad and I have 3 kids under the age of 5. I have a full time job and no car. She has helped me and supported our family as if she was one of us. She is a very sympathetic person.
