Hi! My name is Carissa, but you can call me Riss—just like my former students used to. I'm originally from the Philippines, now living in the UK. I'm 37 years old and married.
I grew up in Cavite, which is about an hour’s drive from Manila, the capital of the Philippines. I work as a childcarer and tutor, and I've always had a deep passion for working with children. Back home, I spent three years as a teacher assistant, contributing to the early development of young learners.
When I moved to London, I was eager to find a role where I could continue doing what I love—teaching and supporting children. Many say working with young kids is exhausting because they’re so full of energy. And while that’s true, I see it as a joy. Watching their daily progress and knowing I’ve had a part in it is incredibly rewarding.
I’m excited to keep growing in this field and to help children build confidence, learn new things, and become the best versions of themselves.
My Experience
I began my career in 2009 as a Teacher Assistant at a private school in the Philippines, where I worked for three years. In this role, I supported the development and implementation of lesson plans tailored to both curriculum standards and the individual needs of each child. I worked closely with lead teachers to monitor student progress, assisted in managing classroom activities, and stepped in to lead the class when the teacher was absent.
My responsibilities also included actively engaging with students to support their learning and development, as well as maintaining open communication with parents to keep them informed about their child’s growth and any changes in the daily routine.
The experience I gained during those years laid a strong foundation for my career. It greatly helped me transition into my current work in London, where I’ve been a childcarer and tutor for toddlers. Since then, I’ve continued to nurture my passion for early childhood education, helping young children grow, learn, and reach important developmental milestones.

First Aid Certificate and TOEFL certificate. I am willing to get a DBS check

Riss has looked after my two boys for the last few months and I cannot recommend her more highly. She is incredibly kind and well organised, trustworthy, willing to help and effective at her job. She encouraged the boys to try lots of different healthy foods and is a great cook. They had so much fun and I would often come home from work to hear them laughing together. She is brilliant at coming up with games and activities to keep them busy. Riss also looked after my youngest while he had chicken pox and was wonderful with him. I’d be very happy to provide a reference by phone or in writing to anyone thinking of employing Carissa. She is one of the best nannies I have employed.
