About Me
Hi! I'm Carmel, I work in the people development sector and have two daughters with my husband Adrian. Ivy is our energetic, cute and mischievous nearly 4 year old who never stops chatting and wanting to show you things. She does have tantrums if she's tired or hungry and you're trying to make her do things, and we are seeking support for potential additional emotional regulation needs. Erin is nearly 10 - she's imaginative, fun, and loves performing, dancing and playing role play games with teeny tiny toys and teddies. She's a bright spark and great to chat to once she gets to know you. She can take a while to warm to babysitters as her imagination can lead to worrying but once you get her chatting or playing she's your pal! They're a joy to be with and we've only had positive babysitter/childminding experiences. I have ADHD so can struggle to manage giving them the attention they crave, doing my job and doing all the cooking, cleaning etc. so would really appreciate some help after school, around the house and with the occasional bedtime so I can hang out with Adrian. My Requirements
We’re looking for a kind, reliable and experienced childminder or nanny to provide wraparound childcare for our 4-year-old daughter, Ivy, and occasional support for our 10-year-old, Erin.
Ivy has recently joined Sefton Park Infants and Juniors preschool four days a week and is settling in well there. At home, she benefits from a calm, structured routine and extra support with transitions such as getting ready, toileting, and mealtimes.
We’re hoping to find someone who:
- Can do Thursday afternoon pick-up (approx. 4–6pm) from preschool ? home, dinner, playtime
- May be able to increase to 3–4 afternoons per week longer-term
- Is open to occasional morning help (getting ready and drop-off)
- Can sometimes provide evening babysitting for both Ivy and Erin.
- Has experience or understanding of children with additional needs (e.g. emotional regulation, ADHD, autism or PDA)
We both work (I have Fridays off with Ivy) and find transition times at home with Ivy a challenge, so we're looking to build a positive, grounding routine for her so that our energy is used in quality time . We’d love to build a consistent relationship with someone who can become part of our family rhythm — warm, patient, and proactive, with a good sense of humour.
Start date is flexible — we can begin with a Thursday trial and see how it feels.

Mel and her daughter Keira are wonderful childminders, and real professionals - they care about the kids they look after and take the time to listen to your concerns or specific requests. My daughter went to Mel 3 days a week from 9 months old, at a time when we were finding it hard to get her naps and eating established along with managing going back to work. Mel made everything so simple and worry free. I knew my daughter was in good hands and could very quickly see the benefit of all the playgroups and activities Mel does - she was chatty and more confident with other kids and started napping and eating better. Mel really helped us, we are very grateful for her support. She has a lovely, cosy and clean home and you can tell there is never a dull day - they're always out and about doing something or having fun at home doing craft or in the garden. Highly recommended!
