About Me
Hello I am Julie, I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I have recently had an inspection from Ofsted “good” with excellent comments, this report can be viewed on the Ofsted website.
I live with my husband Sean and my two children, Niamh who was born in 2006 and Josh who was born in 2009, a goldfish and a cockapoo born 28/10/17 called Thor.
I accept government 30 hours funded places for 3-4 year olds and 2 year old funded places. This can be also be used in conjunction with a nursery so up to 15 hours in nursery and the additional hours as required with myself.
I provide a safe homely environment, where children feel they can play and explore freely. In addition to indoor space, I have an outside area with a patio and grassy area suitable for all children. I am very lucky living in this village as there are fabulous resources only minutes away for the children to enjoy. These include woodland walks, beach trips, and outings to the park as well as a small child friendly library.
I follow the early year’s statutory framework and record the children’s development, which is shared with the parent.
I offer collection and drop off from the Seaton Sluice First School, which is only one street away so very convenient for the children to walk to. I work closely with the first school and find this benefits the children prior to their enrolment in school as they are able to visit the EYFS rooms and meet the teachers.
I am a member of PACEY and try to attend as many council run Network meetings for childcare providers.
In addition I visit the toddler and baby groups in Seaton Sluice This allows the children a wider social experience with lots of exciting equipment.
My Experience
I have been registered as a childminder since April 2014. 3 years prior to this I have been volunteering at local schools and working part time as a childcare assistant. I have been working with children through volunteering since early teens with a few years volunteering for Mencap.
My previous career was in finance within a stock brokers. I can understand only too well the pressures of finding a balance between your work and home life.
My Qualifications
My qualifications applicable to childcare are:
BSc (hons) Maths, History and Computing
NVQ level 3 Childcare- CYPOP5
Paediatric first aid
Safeguarding
Food Hygiene
Many Childcare based courses from Pacey & Northumberland County Council.
My Availability
My Contractual hours are:
Mon to Fri 07:30-17:30
I have some availability for early years (4months to 4 years).
In the holidays I have extra space available for those just needing holiday cover. I often run outings in the holidays including trips to Beamish, Woodhorn colliery, Plessey woods and Alnwick castle. I also do more local activities including rock pooling at St Mary's lighthouse, beach trips and adventure walks through Holywell Dene.

AM Half Day (includes Breakfast, Lunch & Snack) 7.30am – 12.30pm £30
PM Half Day (includes Snacks) 1.00 pm – 5:30pm £25
School pick - up (childcare and Tea) 3pm-5:30 pm £15
School drop - off (childcare and Breakfast) 7.30am-9am £10
Full wrap around – (School drop off, pick up, Breakfast and Tea)

Julie is an excellent childminder. She has looked after my two children for the last three years and they are always happy to be with her. In their own words, “she always has time for us”. She creates a caring nd nurturing environment for them and they have friends of all ages that they have met through going to her. She is reliable and has always been flexible and helpful whenever we’ve needed her.
