Judith
Nanny in Edinburgh
My Summary
About Me
I am originally from a village in the Borders and moved up to Edinburgh to begin nannying over 35 years ago now...
I own my own flat. I enjoy cooking, reading, walking, socialising and love animals. I am honest and reliable.
My Experience
I have been working professionally as a nanny for over 35 years. In that time I have been with 11 families, most have been fairly long term jobs where I have had extensive experience with newborns through to 8 years.
All of my jobs have been predominantly sole charge positions but have worked happily alonsgside mums while they have been on maternity leave etc.
Prior to moving to Edinburgh to take my first nanny job all those years ago, I began my career informally and almost naturally as a teenager by babysitting while still at school and then after leaving school, looking after children for a few local mums in the Borders village where I'm from while they worked part time...
I work confidently under own initiative while equally open to direction and input from others and enjoy working as a team with the parents I work for.
I take the children on outings and trips and do age and stage appropriate clubs and classes. We sometimes bake, paint or just run around in the garden or park....We socialise with other nannies or mums with similar age children and I organise and manage playdates and supervise and assist with homework.
My Qualifications
I have no formal qualifications in childcare.
I have a diploma in counselling which I developed a real interest in as quite a natural extension of working and interacting with people.
I feel this has given me more awareness in my work as a nanny ie: respecting individual feelings, perspectives and characters and how to help support and encourage each child's own development and chosen ways of expressing themselves.
I also trained with and worked for a parents and carers helpline for a number of years as a voluntary worker.
I have an up to date baby and child first aid certificate and will renew as required. Will also comply with PVG requirements. Any other documentation...CV etc will be provided to any family interested.

Salary is negotiable but should reflect the number of years experience and maturity I would bring into my new job.
