My Summary
About Me
Hello My name is Kirsten Munn. I am a qualified nursery nurse, with over 20 years childcare experience.
Currently, I work as a nursery nurse in a local nursery, where I have worked for the past 9 years. I currently work in the baby room, with babies from 6 months to 15 months. I have looked after a baby at 12 weeks he was our youngest. From time to time, I also work in other rooms with children from 15 months up to 5 years old.
Before joining the nursery , I had worked as a nanny looking after a child with cerebral palsy, and had a few other children within the same area. The children's ages ranged from 6 months up to 10 years old. I was a nanny for the same families for 7 years.
Before nannying I worked in a nursery looking after children from 6 weeks to 5 years. This was part time while training and I gained a position as a nursery nurse with this nursery full time after qualifying.
I am a creative person and enjoy getting messy with the children, but at the same time encourage their creative skills and develop their fine motor, hand eye coordination and of course encourage them to have fun and help clear up.
I love being outdoors with the children, exploring, cycling, walking and encouraging them to socialise with their friends.
Children should be encouraged, praised and shown, to help them develop, thrive and reach their full potential in life. Tv, computers are all very good as part of a child's learning, but equally so is encouraging them to learn trough play.
When I am not at work, I love rowing, cycling, walking, traveling from time to time, socialising with friends and spending time with my family.
My Experience
My first experiences in Childcare was in my yearly teens. I volunteered at three different summer play schemes, followed with helping at the local Sunday school.
These experiences enabled me to set up my own little babysitting service for local families in my street.
Once I left school I new I wanted to work with children, so I spent the next eight years working as a nursery assistant, before deciding to gain my nursery nurse qualification.
After qualifying as a nursery nurse in 2004 I worked for a private nursery for four years, before moving on to work as a nanny. I work as a special educational needs nanny, looking after a child with cerebral palsy. Due to the child getting older and working few hours, i moved jobs to my current.
Now I am looking to go back to nannying, where I feel I can offer more of my skills, work closser with families, provide more one to one with the children in supporting their development and be where I enjoy.
