About Me

Hi there, I'm Carla from Grow to learn,
A childminding setting based in the village of Oakley, Bedfordshire.

I am Ofsted registered and hold an advanced DBS certificate, which is regularly updated and a paediatric first aid certificate (see full list of qualifications below).

I have been childminding since 2015 and partake in activities with the little ones which follow all of the the Early years curriculum, as well as having lots of fun at local groups, the local libraries, a music group and many outdoor spaces, such as parks, Forest schools and even travel across Bedfordshire via public transport, such as the train and bus.

Here at Grown to learn I endeavour that each child will develop and flourish in a happy, supportive and secure environment, enabling them to be confident, challenged and ready for school when the time comes.

Grow to learn, is a setting that runs a safe, nurturing environment that supports the care and learning of all early years children through the child-led learning approach.
This ensures that every Childs own individual interest is seized in the moment and developed into their own personalised 'next steps'.

Inside the setting, the children have daily access to mark making, musical exploratory tables, a rotating messy play table, home corner, and relaxing reading area.

Outside in the garden the children get to fully enjoy nature, as this is where we have lots of fun planting our own fruits, vegetables and flowers (although a lot of planting will most often get transferred to our allotment which the children love to spend time at digging and pruning etc). It is here that the children also enjoy feeding and petting our friendly chickens and Guinea pigs as well engaging in outdoor activities which help to support and develop their physical development and gross motor skills.

Here at Grown to learn, I believe that exploring the environment around us is also very important. Therefore we regularly partake on local nature walks, exploring our local habitat, as well as doing outdoor activities, such as tree bark rubbings, listening walks, berry picking and the like.

In terms of funding, I except all childcare vouchers & offer the current 30 hours funding and I am also registered for the tax free childcare scheme, along with any current standing Childcare Voucher schemes.

I work in close partnership to the local Kindergarten and Primary school (with references to support this), and offer before & after school care, full days, part days, term time only or all year around cover, as well as Ad hoc care.

I am flexible & include parents in their child's care & learning as much as possible through email, photos, phone messages, daily dairies and home learning/progress sheets, as well as face to face communications each day.
