ABOUT ME

I am a qualified nursery nurse with more than 25 years’ experience caring for children and over 20 years’ experience as a registered childminder.

My hard work and dedication to childminding resulted in three consecutive Outstanding inspection judgements over a 16-year period. At my most recent inspection, under the revised inspection framework, my setting was judged Good.

I provide calm, safe, nurturing and high-quality home-based childcare for children under four. I work Monday to Thursday, from 7:45am until 5:00pm, and do not provide before- or after-school care or holiday care for school-aged children over four.

I live in a semi-detached family home with a dedicated, well-equipped playroom that opens directly onto a small, secure garden for outdoor play and exploration.

I have two small, crate-trained dogs who are kept separately from the children. Any interaction is carefully managed and always closely supervised.

EXPERIENCE AND MY SETTING

I have more than 25 years’ experience working with children of different ages. Before becoming a registered childminder, I worked as a nanny, a childminder’s assistant and within private day nurseries. I am also a qualified nursery nurse and regularly complete training relating to safeguarding, child development, health, nutrition and early-years practice.

My setting offers a welcoming, friendly and nurturing environment where children can feel safe, settled and valued. I keep my group intentionally small so that every child receives plenty of individual attention, encouragement and support.

We regularly explore our local community and enjoy parks, playgroups, classes and outdoor adventures. At home, children have opportunities to enjoy:

* Mindfulness and age-appropriate yoga
* Imaginative and child-led play

Patience, compassion, kindness and warmth are at the heart of my practice. I support each child as an individual, helping them develop confidence, independence, emotional security and a strong sense of belonging.

Sustainability is also important within my setting. We recycle and reduce unnecessary waste, and I use biodegradable nappies, wipes and nappy sacks wherever possible.

I am conscious of the amount of ultra-processed food in children’s diets. Meals and snacks are therefore prepared using fresh, simple and minimally processed ingredients as much as possible. Children are offered a varied range of foods in recognisable forms from an early age, helping them become familiar with different tastes and textures.
