About Me
My name is Kelly and I am a mother of 2 energetic boys aged 12 and 14 years old. Both sons have additional needs so they keep me on my toes.
I enjoy travelling, going to the cinema and reading.
I love working with children/people who have additional needs as I strongly believe that if adaptions are put in place to remove barriers to their learning, they can achieve and learn to their full potential.
My Experience
I have worked in the field of childcare, education and supported living for over 20 years. I have worked with ages 6 weeks old to adult learners in both mainstream and special needs establishments.
My main area of expertise is working with challenging behaviour and children/adults who have Autism/Aspergers and ADHD. This has been achieved through mainstream schools, specialised units and also supporting students with their study skills in further education.
I have experience with TEACCH, PECS, Social stories, Makaton. I also have the knowledge to adapt specific activities/ tasks to meet the needs of the individual and also the ability to identify some reasoning behind behaviours/meltdowns and try to minimise them before they escalate.
