About Me

Hello, and welcome! My name is Jenea Okuefuna, and I am delighted to introduce my home-based childminding setting, where I provide a warm, caring, and structured environment for young children to thrive.
I’m an OFSTED registered childminder.
With a Degree in Fine Art and over 10 years of experience as a Teaching Assistant, working across all primary age groups, I have a strong understanding of child development and early learning. Now, as a registered childminder, I bring this expertise into a small, intimate setting, ensuring each child receives personalised care and attention.
My home is a safe, welcoming, and stimulating space designed to nurture young minds. I will be caring for a small number of children, including my own youngest child (age 2), providing a consistent and familiar playmate for those in my care. I also have two other children aged 8 and 7 that will join us after school, adding another fun dimension to our afternoons.
We are a pet-friendly household with Luna, our gentle kitten, who adds a sense of warmth and calm to our space. Our setting also includes a garden for outdoor play and learning, and we regularly visit Furzdown Rec Park, where children can explore nature and develop physical skills.
A Balance of Routine, Structure & Mindfulness
I believe that children thrive in a structured and predictable environment, so I incorporate daily routines to create a sense of security. However, I also ensure that our schedule remains flexible and engaging, allowing children to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace.
One unique aspect of my childminding approach is the incorporation of mindfulness and meditation into our day. Through meditation music, calming activities, and moments of quiet, I encourage children to develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a sense of inner calm—valuable skills that will benefit them for life.
