Carer role in Ealing - live in or live out, from summer 2026
About Me
We are looking for a carer for to join our busy and friendly family in West London and predominantly look after our six year old son, who has been quite unwell.
Do you think this might be you?
We have a flexible team in place supporting our son which allows some flexibility to create roles around the right people. Our nanny of ten years is due to start maternity leave in the summer, and we are also looking for an au pair/carer (around school hours) and a housekeeper.
My Requirements
We are seeking a fun-loving and caring individual to join our family and act as a carer for our disabled son, who has epilepsy and complex needs. He is a chirpy playful six year old boy, with some learning difficulties.
He loves craft, baking, build-it activities, music, dancing, imaginative play, reading books and outdoor play. To capture his attention, you would need a sense of fun, imagination, creativity and sensitivity to emotional needs.
He is home educated through an EHCP, with an SEN home tutor working alongside this role to provide his education.
This role includes being his carer/TA during education hours and a playmate before and after school hours. There are some healthcare elements to the carer role, including seizure safety.
Some experience of caring for children with additional needs is desirable - particularly autism, ADHD, demand avoidance and emotional dysregulation. You would need to work well in a team with others helping him, and communicate well with the team and family.
The carer role during education hours is funded through our son's EHCP - and the specification is that of an HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant). The carer role before and after school hours is funded by social services. We would fund additional hours in school holidays, optional babysitting, etc.
Additional training is provided around his individual healthcare plan.
The vacancy has come up because our nanny of ten years is starting maternity leave in the summer. We have also had an au pair in post (who is moving on at the end of May) so we have flexibility for the right person.
We will consider a full time or part time role, and live in or live out positions are both possible. Additional housekeeping duties can also be considered.
There is private accommodation on the top floor of the house, and plenty of space at home - so it is very possible to have your own uninterrupted downtime away from busy family life. We are surrounded by beautiful green spaces and local amenities. We are a short walk from the train station and 20 mins from central London on the Elizabeth Line.
We are a Christian family, and would love to find someone who will uphold our Christian values at home.
There are additional checks we require for this role, including right to work in the UK and a DBS check. All training for the role can be provided, including his emergency seizure treatment plan.
