My Requirements

We are seeking a fun-loving and caring individual to join our family as a carer for our disabled son, who has epilepsy and complex needs.

He is a chirpy playful seven year old boy, with some evolving intellectual/learning difficulties.

He is home educated through an EHCP, with an SEN home tutor working alongside this role to provide his education.

Experience of working with children with additional needs is essential - particularly autism, ADHD, demand avoidance and emotional dysregulation. Experience with children with epilepsy is also desired.

Excellent communication skills, playfulness and gentleness are key.

To capture his attention, you would need a sense of fun, imagination, creativity and sensitivity to emotional needs. He loves craft, baking, build-it activities, music, dancing, imaginative play, reading books and outdoor play.

You would need to work well in a team with others helping him, and communicate well with the team and family. The successful candidate will need to build a good rapport with our son and his tutor, to effectively deliver his home education.

The successful candidate will also need to deliver personal care (mainly supporting with toileting and meal preparation).

Additional training around epilepsy emergencies is provided around his individual healthcare plan. Further support and training around social communication, sensory needs and approach to behaviours that challenge will also be provided.

We are surrounded by beautiful green spaces and local amenities. We are a short walk from the train station and 20 mins from central London on the Elizabeth Line.

Note this is a full time role, 38 weeks a year (following Ealing school term dates).
