About Me

I am an ofsted registered childminder in Histon. I have been working as a childminder for 5 years, I have 2 boys (7 and 9) currently in Histon Park and Brook schools and 1 cat.

My priority is to build positive relationships with the children and their families. Establishing good communication, working with the family to fulfil the needs of a growing, evolving child and family!

I place high value on the child’s emotional, social development and their connection to the world around them. Encouraging conversation between them and others in the setting, establishing relationships across all ages. I give opportunities to engage with the local community through playgroups, community cafes, library visits and playing at the park.

I believe in establishing a good routine for the children, to encourage good eating and sleeping habits. As part of the routine I read to the children every day and include a wide variety of non fiction and fiction books. It also includes time for undirected play where children can establish their own sense of play. I allow the children to explore their own interests and will orientate days around what they connect with, we recently made a Frozen palace, with snow and dress up.

Music is a big part of the setting, whether it is required to calm the children and help focus, or singing to motivate help eat lunch! I love music and play a wide variety. We get creative at least once a week, making potions with the wildflowers or painting cardboard rainbows. We have fun exploring colour and texture.

I love exploring nature and wild spaces, observing the changing of the seasons and creatures in our environment. We get out as much as possible, and connect with our local environment.

I can provide lunch which involves, pasta, scrambled egg, cheese, olives. I work with the families to provide a healthy food, whilst accommodating the family and child’s needs.
