My Summary

My Experience

I have always been passionate about working with children and have experience of working in Social Services, Primary Schools, a Children’s Charity as well as a Nanny. In each of these positions I worked directly with children alongside teachers, health professionals, police, social workers and families.

During my time working as a nanny for two families in Northamptonshire, I enjoyed the opportunity to be creative and imaginative. I encouraged the children to learn about themselves and explore the world through reading, arts and craft activities, role-play, music and everyday activities - much as I have done with my own children. I prepared healthy meals and helped out with household jobs alongside caring for the children.

My training as an art therapist was on the National Children’s In-patient Unit which admits children with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties. The training was challenging but rewarding and I enjoyed being part of a multi-disciplinary team, building relationships with both the children and staff. This role required me to have patience and consistency in my interactions with the children, along with a good sense of humour.

During my time as a social work assistant on a Child Protection Unit, I was responsible for supervised contact between babies/children and their families. I also worked alongside the police on video interviews with children and ran individual art therapy sessions. The nature of this post required me to work sensitively and confidentially.

I have worked as a special needs assistant in five primary schools across Northamptonshire. I enjoyed working with the children individually and in small groups, both in and outside of the classroom, helping them with both their learning and social interactions.

During my time as a play therapist for a charity in Northampton, I ran individual and group sessions for children who were struggling with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I learnt about the importance of building trusting relationships with the children and the experience of playing alongside them helped me develop a greater understanding of how children communicate through play.

My Availability

I am currently working Monday - Thursday in local primary school as a Learning Support Assistant, however I am looking for extra part-time work during the school holidays and possibly after school hours too. I am also available for babysitting.

My Fees

• Babysitting from £13.00 per hour
• Nannying from £13.00 per hour (gross)

£12-£14 depending on the number of children
