Ffion
Nanny in Stroud (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
About Me
I was born and spent my formative years in Pembrokeshire, went to university in Plymouth and moved to Stroud in 2016 after spending six months travelling around the world with my (now) husband. Since then I have worked as a nanny and housekeeper for several families in the Stroud area and am now a mum to a very happy and energetic 21 month old.
Since returning from travelling my husband and I have fully renovated three houses and are currently in the process of renovating our fourth. When possible we have weekends away visiting family in Somerset, Cornwall and Pembrokeshire; I am a keen swimmer and kayaker and a certified scuba diver. I enjoy spending time with my family and going for walks with friends and our young Labrador, keeping a clean and tidy home and organising social events with friends.
My Experience
I studied Outdoor Education at University, graduating with a 2:1 in 2013. Much of my degree was focused on children and their engagement with the outdoors so, when possible, I volunteered with local primary schools helping out with Forest School sessions and my final year dissertation was entitled “Are there potential lifelong benefits to participating in Forest School programmes for Primary school aged children?”. I then completed my Children's Care Learning and Development (CCLD) NVQ level 3, while working at a nursery which cared for children from birth to age five.
I have been a private nanny and housekeeper for almost 9 years. Most of my responsibilities have revolved around general nannying which include taking the children to groups/nursery and school, planning activities, helping with homework, feeding them and putting them to bed, as well as general nursery duties like preparing and cooking meals, keeping the nursery clean and tidy and doing the children’s laundry. I have also been employed as a nanny/housekeeper; this covered duties such as meal planning and batch cooking, walking the dog, running errands, food shopping and feeding the animals (horses, sheep, lambs, chickens, tortoises, dog).
The family structure of my job has also been varied, from Mums and Dads to single parents to single parents choosing to start a family by themselves; for all of my nanny jobs it has been a mixture of shared care and sole charge work. I have worked with children from birth to teens and have experience with premature babies, twins, only children and siblings.
My Qualifications
While working at the nursery I obtained my Level 3 Children's Care Learning and Development, I have also completed a ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ course (July 2012) and I completed my Cross Infection Procedures and Dental Health Education by Designed to Smile (June 2014). I was awarded my Level 2 in Food Safety in Catering by the Environmental Health (July 2014) and I renewed my Paediatric First Aid Qualification in 2018.
