Fiona
Spanish-speaking After-school Nanny for 9yo Twins, Mon–Fri, London Fields
About Me
We are an artist and a film director
My Requirements
We are looking for a part-time after-school nanny/carer for our nine-year-old twins, who are currently in Year 5. We are based in East London, very close to London Fields.
The role is Monday-Friday, approximately 3pm–7pm, and involves collecting the children from school and looking after them during the afternoon and early evening.
We are particularly looking for someone who is a native or fluent Spanish speaker. Catalan would be a big bonus. We are considering moving to Girona next summer and have been advised by the children’s prospective Montessori school that it would be very helpful for them to start learning Spanish before they arrive. We would therefore love to find someone who can speak Spanish with them naturally during everyday activities and help build their confidence and conversational ability. We are ideally also looking for a confident cyclist to cycle with the kids to and from their after school activities. Both children play piano and trombone so someone who can read music would also be a big bonus.
The role would include:
* Collecting the children from school
* Speaking Spanish with them as much as possible as part of their normal afternoon routine
* Taking them to after-school activities such as swimming, gymnastics and orchestra
* Cycling with them to after-school activities is desirable but not essential
* Helping with homework, reading and schoolwork
* Preparing a simple dinner for the children
* Supervising and engaging with them at home
* Overseeing their music practice — they currently play piano and trombone
* Helping with light household cleaning, tasks and errands
The children are now 9 and quite independent, so we are not necessarily looking for a traditional career nanny. We would be very happy to hear from a university or postgraduate student, teacher, teaching assistant, musician or other responsible Spanish/Catalan-speaking person who genuinely enjoys spending time with children.
The most important qualities for us are that you are warm, responsible, reliable, organised and confident looking after two children independently. We would also like someone who can set kind but clear boundaries and encourage the children to be independent and responsible for their own belongings and routines.
We both work in the creative industries and are an artist and a film director. We sometimes work from home and occasionally have longer working days, so some flexibility and occasional evening babysitting would be helpful, although not essential.
Previous childcare experience is desirable, and we would require references. A DBS check and first-aid training would be preferable.
Hours: approximately 3pm–7pm, Monday to Friday
Location: London Fields, Hackney E8
Start: As soon as convenient / Autumn 2026
Languages: Fluent Spanish essential; Catalan highly desirable
Please only get in touch if you are available for the weekday after-school hours and can travel easily to London Fields.
