About Me

I am an experienced, registered childminder based in Alloa, providing quality early learning and childcare from my family home. My approach is warm, nurturing and child-centred, with a strong focus on learning through everyday experiences, play and exploration. I believe young children learn best when they are given opportunities to be curious, make choices, develop independence and explore the world around them at their own pace.
My setting offers a welcoming home-from-home environment with carefully selected books, creative materials, open-ended resources and opportunities for both indoor and outdoor learning. Rather than relying on large amounts of equipment, I particularly value natural materials, loose parts and real-life experiences that encourage imagination, problem-solving and meaningful play.
Outdoor and community-based learning are an important part of my practice. We regularly visit local parks, woodland and community spaces, explore places of interest and historical sites, use local transport and attend toddler groups. These experiences provide opportunities for children to develop confidence, communication, physical skills, independence and an understanding of the wider world.
As an early years practitioner, I plan experiences around the individual children in my care and their interests, needs and stage of development. My practice is informed by Scottish early years guidance, including Realising the Ambition, Curriculum for Excellence Early Level and GIRFEC, while maintaining the flexibility and nurturing relationships that make childminding unique.
I am also a Partner Childminder with Clackmannanshire Council, enabling eligible families to use their funded Early Learning and Childcare entitlement within my setting.
I value strong partnerships with parents and carers and aim to provide children with a happy, secure and stimulating environment where they feel respected, included and confident to learn through everyday life.
