I'm 38 years old and have been caring for children since high school. I enjoy spending time with children and watching them learn new things.
During my free time I enjoy crafts, including making cards, scrapbooking, quilting, knitting and cross stitching.
When the weather is suitable I enjoy going for walks. I like to take photographs of nature or of the children I care for, and make them in to videos.
My Experience
EARLY YEARS EXPERIENCE
After completing college in 2003 I spent many years working in day nurseries, mainly with infants from 2 months to 3 years, during this time I have been responsible for the care of up to 3 babies on my own. I have gained experience working with 3-5 year olds during my time as a mealtime assistant in a pre-school.
Over an 8 year period I babysat for a family with 7 children, giving me the opportunity to care for newborns, and have worked as a mother’s help/nanny for a 2 year old and 8 month old twins, helping to get the children in to routines.
More recently I have been supporting mums struggling with their mental health after having a baby, supporting them with caring for their babies when they have felt unable to, and helping them learn to care for and bond with their babies.
SPECIAL NEEDS EXPERIENCE
During my time in day nurseries I have supported young children with special needs, from autism to 1p36 deletion syndrome.
I worked with 9-19 year olds with autism, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour in a residential home and have a sibling who has autism so have lots of experience and knowledge about techniques that can support the needs of children with additional needs.
I have also worked with a child with Infantile Battens Disease at school, and assisting in the care of other children who have cerebral palsy and other significant physical disabilities so have experience with gastro feeding and epilepsy.
I have experience working with children and young people who are hearing and visually impaired and have a range of other needs.

BTEC National Diploma in Early Years - 2003
Infection Control - September 2017
