About Me

Welcome to Suzanne's Cheeky Monkeys

Hello, I'm Suzanne Martin, and welcome to Suzanne's Cheeky Monkeys.

I am an experienced, Ofsted-registered childminder with over 20 years of childcare experience. I provide a warm, welcoming home-from-home environment where children can learn, grow, have fun, and feel safe, loved, and valued.

I live with my partner, Paul. We have three grown-up children, two of whom have flown the nest, and we are proud grandparents to two wonderful grandchildren. They love joining us at local groups and activities, where they enjoy playing alongside the children in my care.

Learning Through Play

I believe children learn best when they are happy and engaged. Every day is filled with opportunities to explore, discover, and develop through play, while enjoying plenty of cuddles, encouragement, and individual attention.

My home is fully equipped with a wide range of toys and resources suitable for all ages. We enjoy arts and crafts, games, singing, dancing, imaginative play, reading stories, and lots of laughter.

Outdoor Adventures

I hold a Level 1 Forest School qualification and have a real passion for the outdoors. I believe spending time outside every day is wonderful for children's physical and mental wellbeing.

We love exploring nature, whatever the season. Regular outings include parks, woodland walks, farms, museums, local zoos, and community events. When the weather isn't so kind, we enjoy visits to soft play centres where children can continue to learn through active play.

Growing and Learning

One of our favourite places to visit is my allotment. Together we grow flowers, fruit, and vegetables, helping children understand where food comes from and how to care for plants. They enjoy getting hands-on with planting, watering, harvesting, and even taking some produce home to share with their families.

Building Friendships

Social development is a big part of what we do. We regularly attend local parent and toddler groups, giving children the opportunity to make friends, build confidence, and develop important social skills.

We also enjoy visiting a local care home, where the children spend time with older residents through singing, chatting, and shared activities. These visits help children develop kindness, empathy, and respect for older generations.

I regularly meet with other local childminders to share ideas, provide support, and give the children even more opportunities to play and learn together. The children build wonderful friendships and soon become like one big family.

Our Pets

Animals are an important part of our home. We have a small, friendly Bichon Frisé called Shadow and two affectionate cats.

I believe growing up around animals helps children develop confidence, responsibility, kindness, and respect. The children especially enjoy helping to take Shadow for walks when we're out and about.

My aim is to give every child the very best start through fun, friendship, learning, outdoor adventures, and plenty of love and care.
