Part Time Nanny with Special Needs Experience Job in Fareham
About Me
We are looking for a unique Nanny/Babysitter/home childcarer to primarily care for, and work with, our 7 year old AuDHD son.
He has been off Curriculum for nearly a year now, completely out of education since July 2026.
He has complex SEMH needs, diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. He has a strong PDA profile with multiple other associated needs.
We are a family of 4; mum, dad, older sister and our son. Grandparents are heavily involved in his care as well. No pets. Non-smoking.
We live in the PO14 area of Fareham.
You must:
Already be Ofsted registered. This is essential as we will use support to pay you. We need immediate help and the waiting list to become registered is months long.
Be self employed and able to provide us with invoices.
Have DBS, First Aid and Public Liability Insurance.
The more understanding you have of Autism,ADHD and PDA the better... but to be honest we are learning 'on the job' so as long as you have a willingness to understand our sons needs that's the most important thing.
Be a non-smoker.
What we are looking for:
The hours are very flexible / ad-hoc. Can / will be a mixture of week days and weekends. He is home full time at the moment and both parents are juggling work commitments and our elder child.
We have another lady who provides some care for our son at weekends, so a team approach is essential.
Our son has been in mental health crisis for 7 months now and struggles to engage with any aspect of life. He is a heavy screen user and it can be difficult to get him to engage.
We would love to find someone who is confident and understanding enough to get to know our son and use their time with him to get him off his screen and re-itegrate with normal life and engage in activities.
We are waiting for the LA and a tribunal hearing to move him into suitable Alternative Provision or Specialist Schooling. When that happens, flexibility will be needed as we won't have any control over the hours he is expected to go somewhere.
Therefore hours can be mutually agreed to fit around both of our schedules. Would ideally suit someone looking for 'top up' hours or part time.
Hourly pay is negotiable, please let me know when you message what your hourly rate is.
It's important to us that we find the right person. You'll need to be the kind of person who can confidently work at a relationship which may take time to build. Use low demand, low arousal and child led approaches. Be able to see behaviours as a response to anxiety/demands and fight or flight and be able to adapt your care accordingly.
