My name is Aoife, I am a 25 year-old philosophy graduate living in Brighton. I have previously worked at a Deputy Housemistress at a Boarding School and have also been a Matron at a Preparatory Boarding School
My Experience
I have a wide range of experience working with children of a variety of ages and a variety of settings. I have previously been a Matron at a Preparatory Boarding School. I was responsible for the overall mental and physical well-being of 23 junior boarders (aged 7-10 years old) in addition to the household management of the boarding house. In this role my responsibilities included:
- getting children up and ready for school in the morning, supervising prep, leisure time and dealing with all end of day and bedtime activities
- on call overnight several nights a week
- liaising with parents
- administration of medication and maintaining associated records
- decisions about taking children to the doctors
- carrying out weekly fire alarm tests
During the second wave of school closures at the beginning of 2021 I was redeployed as a Teaching Assistant for a Year One class. I therefore have wide ranging experience in classroom based learning including phonics. I have previously worked as a Maths and English Tutor in addition to volunteering on Nottingham Library's summer reading scheme. The combination of these experiences mean I am well placed to help with homework or reading.
From August 2021-August 2023 I worked as a Deputy Housemistress at a boarding school.
Additionally I have previously been a Nanny, communicating clearly with the parents in order to look after the children in align with their values in their absence. I picked the children up from school and performed their evening routine. I have also worked as a babysitter to various other families.
My Qualifications
Whilst I have no direct childcare qualifications, the experience I have outlined above gives me an understanding of what would be required in a babysitting/nannying role. I have proven experience caring for children in a variety of settings and due to my current role hold an enhanced DBS check. I attained a high 2:1 in my philosophy degree.

- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
