About Me
HELP! We live in central Bath and urgently need help. We have two children, a son (9) and daughter (8). At the moment, due to an issue with local authority transport, I'm having to drive my son to school which is over an hour away so as well as needing support caring for the children, I also need help keeping on top of the house, making meals and running errands.
MY SON: SEND REQUIREMENT
My son has autism, ADHD and dyslexia - he is very sociable and loves crafts, baking, being outside and playing computer games but has communication and language delays. He's not very good at playing or doing things on his own and, as a result, can end up playing on his phone all the time. While I don't mind this too much as he can't read and he's able to access success this way, it is something I struggle to keep on top of as I'm juggling too much. He goes to a special SEMH school an hour away and has two week half terms which are really tricky to manage so I need help with those too.
MY DAUGHTER
My daughter is happy-go-lucky but is easily get distracted by watching videos, which is something that's happening too much - di. She loves small world play and being out on her bike. She has a big imagination but needs support in applying it.
CHILDCARE:
*School pick ups for my daughter - she goes to St Andrew's on Julian Road. She goes to after-school club if that helps with your hours.
*Facilitating play or going to the park or something fun but also letting them chill and unwind. They do need their screen time regulated which can be difficult, but with enticing fun they can be distracted!
*Dinner prep - my son is a selective eater, so meals are really simple.
* Baths/showers
*School holiday help, such as outings and supervision at home.
* Occasional babysitting, including overnight.
HOUSEHOLD:
* Keeping the kids' room tidy and clearing up after them around the house.
* Putting the kids' laundry away
* Dishwasher management (!)
* Making appointments for the children and taking them if possible (dentist, doctor etc)
* General errands on request such as returning online stuff (bane of my life!) and things like food shopping
ABOUT YOU:
* First and foremost you'll understand what kids need, be able to initiate play/activities as well as support downtime. You'll be loving and chilled, but we do need someone who can be firm when required and manage resistance with positivity.
* Loads of initiative and enthusiasm
* Confident to get on with things without supervision
* Capable and reliable
* Full driving license and, if possible, your own car (this isn't a deal-breaker but it's certainly an asset)
If you're studying at the moment, there will be time to do this while the kids are chilling out. I don't expect you to be with them all the time at all.
We're in Walcot just off the London Road right by a bus-stop into town and out to Chippenham/Corsham.
My Requirements
Ideally a few hours a day throughout the school week, both during and after school hours, and then some full days during half-terms and school holidays - Arlo has 2 week half-terms and I really need someone to step in during those. We're entirely flexible and happy to work out a schedule that suits you.

Hayley has looked after my children doing wrap around care which is quite complicated - she’s picked up the routine easily, is flexible and sunny and the children really liked her. Unfortunately, I couldn’t offer enough hours to keep her but I’d wholeheartedly recommend ❤️
Debbie has been looking after my two children - now 2.5y and 14m - for nearly a year now and she is just wonderful! My little ones absolutely adore her and have always gone in happy and often not wanted to leave - my fussy son also loves her meals which are always well planned and nutritious. Debbie is very caring, thoughtful and fun - she keeps me updated with any concerns and I always like seeing her at the top and tail of the day: she’s such a happy person. Very sadly, due to a change in circumstances my children will no longer be going to Deb - I don’t know what we’ll do without her but I know that whichever family is next lucky enough to call her their childminder will find their lives made so much easier knowing that their children are getting the best possible care they could ever ask for.
Tracey has looked after my two little ones - 28m and 10m - for chunks of time when we have had childcare issues and is just brilliant. She has a lovely way with the children who took to her immediately - not easy when someone is new - and took their little personalities totally in her stride. Nothing fazes Tracey and her relaxed approach really reflected in how happy the babies were at the end of each day that she cared for them. I would whole heartedly recommend Tracey as a nanny - you would be very lucky to have her!
