I am a responsible person with good people skills, who enjoy working in the home environment. I will be able to build a good rapport with you and your children. I am very compassionate, tolerant with an unflappable demeanour. I have all the time and patience for young children. This has been reflective on the success I had with tutoring as well as lasting friendships I have with the children and their parents. I would like to emphasise that I will constantly communicate with you regarding children’s matters and work with your values and expectations. I fully understand the value of caregivers having a sound understanding of the psychology behind child development.
I will happily take your child/children out i.e. visit libraries, museums, parks etc. One of the best times of being a mother was chaperoning them to school and taking them on day visits. I along with them thoroughly enjoyed regular museums, zoos and park visits in and around London. I used to get a yearly museum pass for my children and they never got bored of Natural History or the Science Museums. While at home, I will set objectives and establish priorities during play times, etc. I will emphasise on learning through play to complement nursery/school work and encourage your children to forge new ideas and thoughts. As an open-minded person, I never assume my knowledge is sufficient and always work hard/research to present an optimum situation to the child. I will encourage routine with flexibility. Children used to look forward to attending tuition with me because I was friendly and caring towards them. I gave them the due respect regardless of their age. I always listen to their opinion and reason out to explain in depth if it differs from mine or yours.
I am very capable of adhering/building and maintaining a routine within the home environment. I always pay attention to detail. I am highly organised with adaptability to change. I am also very flexible though used to working in a pragmatic way. I enjoy doing the laundry, I have all the knowledge of looking after garments etc and enjoy ironing. I usually clean, hoover and dust the house every other day, while maintaining a routine of deep cleaning one room on these days. Being a thorough cleaner, I don’t miss anything, yet don’t waste time either. I always pay attention to wet spaces and like to use chemical free cleaning products where possible. I regularly clean fridges and larders regularly thus always aware of the stock etc.
I am a natural cook who enjoys cooking in various culinary styles. Over the years, I have adapted to incorporate a wide array of pulses, ancient cereals, nuts and seeds into my cooking. I am passionate about organic produces and make sure to control wastage, i.e. make stock with left-over vegetables etc.
I am an excellent driver, with a clean driving licence and good knowledge of London road network and the south east.
I have always been very flexible with my time in my previous employments. I am a self-starter; my initiative has always been appreciated in my previous employments. I am an early riser, this allows enough time to get the work done. I always like to do a thorough job of whatever task in hand. I am a Sri Lankan by origin, and came to the UK in 1986, I lived in Tooting and later Balham until 1992, before moving to Wallington, Surrey until 2006. In the early days, I have worked with Wandsworth Interpreting Service, King Georges Park, Wandsworth and later Battersea District Library, Clapham Junction. I loved spending a lot of time enjoying Tooting, Wandsworth and Clapham Commons with my children and their friends and families while they were growing up. I grew up in Southern Africa and Srilanka and used to travel widely throughout Africa, Europe and Asia as a child up until a teenager. These life experiences have made me the person I am today, transcending all cultural and racial barriers. I will be very willing to travel with the family where possible.
I would also like to mention that I am entering job market to support my youngest son who is giving up his work to focus fully on golfing. He is a promising golfer aiming to turn professional soon. This financial need coupled with my keen interest in childcare/home management has encouraged me to apply to this position. I would like to finally mention that I am a very positive, communicative, caring person with integrity. I will build on the loving peaceful and safe environment that exist to support your family and your home.
