A Little About My Childminding Setting

A Home from Home, Surrounded by Nature

I am a registered childminder with 18 years of experience, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be nestled in such a beautiful part of Kent, on the private Hole Park Estate.

My aim is to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating home-from-home environment where every child feels happy, secure and confident to explore, learn and grow. I believe the early years are incredibly important in shaping a child’s future, and I feel privileged to play a small part in each child’s journey.

Learning Through Nature and Adventure

One of the most special features of my setting is our ever-changing forest garden, where the children’s imaginations lead the way. From building dens and making nests to discovering new treasures, there is always something to inspire curiosity, creativity and adventure.

We spend lots of time outdoors, exploring nature in every season and enjoying a wide range of forest school activities. We are fortunate to have the beautiful surrounding land to explore, with favourite spots including Trolls Bridge, Blackberry Island and a lovely little stream where the children can splash, investigate and discover the wonders of nature.

Our outdoor adventures provide endless opportunities for imaginative play, physical development, problem-solving and learning about the world around us.

Animals, Nature and Nurturing Little Hearts

Animals are a very special part of our daily lives. Our friendly roaming chickens, gentle therapy sheep and much-loved pet cocker spaniels are all part of the children’s experiences here.

The dogs are very much involved in our day-to-day play, while spending time with our animals offers wonderful opportunities to develop kindness, empathy, confidence and a sense of responsibility. Their calming presence also brings something truly special to our setting.

Little Hands, Big Imaginations

Our adventures continue indoors, where my fully equipped playroom is continually evolving to reflect the children’s interests, ideas and developmental needs. I provide a variety of resources and materials, along with different areas for imaginative and role play, encouraging children to explore, create, experiment and learn through play.

We also enjoy our recently introduced baking days, when the children can collect fresh eggs from our chickens or pick blackberries before making something delicious together. These activities are a wonderful way to bring learning to life, developing practical skills, confidence and an appreciation of where our food comes from.

Supporting Every Child’s Development

I support children’s learning and development by following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring that play and everyday experiences provide opportunities for each child to flourish at their own pace.

Through our outdoor adventures, creative activities and everyday routines, I encourage the development of social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills. Above all, I want every child to feel valued, listened to and free to express their own unique personality.

Healthy Food and Happy Children

I believe that good-quality, nutritious food plays an important role in children’s wellbeing. I take great care over the food I provide and serve meals and snacks that I would be happy to eat myself.

A Personal and Caring Approach

After 18 years of childminding, I still feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such lovely, inspiring little people. Watching children develop their confidence, discover new interests and grow in independence is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

I understand how important it is for parents to feel confident and reassured when choosing childcare. I strive to build warm, trusting relationships with both children and their families, creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.

I am also very happy to provide excellent references from past and present parents who have entrusted me with the care of their children over the years.
