About Me

Welcome to my little organic setting.

My name is Dorota and I am a childminder in St Albans.
I am originally from Poland and have lived in the UK for over 20 years. English is the main language spoken in my setting, but I am also able to offer a multilingual environment for families who would love their little one to hear and experience another language from an early age.

I believe that the early years are a very special time. Children learn so much through everyday experiences, relationships, play and exploration, and I want to give them the time, space and attention they need to discover the world around them.

Being a mum has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life — and having twins certainly doubled the happiness!

I have a 15-year-old daughter and 14-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. My own children have taught me that every child is wonderfully different, with their own personality, interests, pace and needs.
For this reason, I keep my numbers intentionally small and care for no more than three children at any one time.
For little children, I believe this makes a real difference.

A smaller group means more time for cuddles, conversation, stories, creative play and one-to-one attention. It allows me to really get to know each child — what makes them smile, what interests them, what comforts them and how they learn best.

Food is an important part of our day.
I run an organic setting and provide fresh, organic food prepared from scratch. I enjoy making wholesome meals and snacks for the children, including homemade crackers, cookies and fresh bread.

I take each child's individual needs, preferences and tastes into consideration. At the same time, I gently encourage children to be curious about food and to try new flavours when they are ready.
I want children to develop a happy and positive relationship with food — enjoying mealtimes, discovering new tastes and learning that healthy food can be delicious too.

I believe children need nature — not just as somewhere to visit, but as a place where they can feel, explore, wonder and belong.
We spend lots of time outdoors and regularly visit the local forest.
Sometimes our adventures are wonderfully simple: collecting leaves and sticks, looking for flowers, lying on the grass watching clouds, listening to birds or stopping to observe a tiny insect.

We also enjoy trips to local playgrounds and farms, as well as visits to my vegetable allotment, where children can experience the seasons and discover how food grows.
These experiences encourage curiosity, imagination, independence and a natural respect for the world around us.

I try to keep my setting as natural as possible.

I minimise the use of chemicals and choose natural fabrics for children's bedding wherever possible. I want the environment around them to feel calm, comfortable and homely rather than overstimulating.

There is space here for children to play, create, explore and rest.
For me, childminding is not simply about keeping children safe and occupied while their parents are at work.
It is about creating a little community where children feel they belong.

I provide a warm, homely environment that meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted.

Children's safety and well-being are always my priority, while giving them plenty of opportunities to learn through play, creativity, movement, nature and everyday experiences.

I am fully insured and committed to providing a high standard of care.

Most importantly, I want your child to feel happy and safe here.

I would love to welcome you and your little one into my home.

I accept childcare funding.

My Experience

Being a mum of 3 sunshines is my best experience. I have worked as a nanny and babysitted many children of different ages for many years. I worked for a few years as a teacher in a Saturday Polish School. I helped at breakfast club in a primary school. I also work at a nursery to wider my experience.
I love working with children and that's why my work is always around them.

A Truly Caring and Trustworthy Childminder

5 stars

Dorota looked after our 6-month-old son with care, warmth, and professionalism. From the very beginning, we felt at ease leaving him in her hands, knowing he was safe, happy, and well cared for.

Unfortunately, we had to stop using her childminding services when she moved home, otherwise we would have happily continued. That said, we’ve stayed in touch, and she still babysits for us from time to time — a testament to how much we trust her and value the bond she built with our son, who's now 2 years. He's always happy and full of smiles around her, and it's clear he enjoys his time with her.

We wholeheartedly recommend Dorota to any parent looking for someone reliable, attentive, and genuinely loving toward the children in her care. We’re very grateful for everything she’s done for our son.

Best childminder in St Albans

5 stars

We have been very fortunate to have Dorota first as an after-school childminder for our daughter, and for the last 2 years as a full-time childminder for our son. As our little boy is starting pre-school in September, we will be moving on. We will miss her a lot, very rarely can you find a more warm, dedicated and a caring person as she is. Super organised, flexible and responsible.

Our son will definitely miss the daily park / playground visits with her, trips to farms, zoos, soft plays and an allotment. Potty training, hot healthy homemade lunches, loads of educational activities or a visit to a hairdresser ( massive favour) also need to be mentioned.

That you Dorota!

I highly recommend Dorota!

5 stars

When my son first started going to her, he was shy and didn't speak English. However, Dorota went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable and even introduced him to sign language for easier communication.

She serves nutritious, home-cooked meals that are mostly organic, which was very important to us. Her house is also incredibly clean, which adds to the positive experience.

She educates the kids in a fun way and often incorporates games to enhance their motor skills.

I appreciate that she is very active with the kids and they regularly spend time outside at parks or have picnics.

My sincere recommendation.

Ideal childminder in St Albans.

5 stars

Initially we didn’t consider any option other than a nursery for our daughter. But the only nursery we found hugely let us down during the pandemic. Luckily we found Dorota. We both agree with my husband that we couldn’t have even dreamt about better setting for our 2 years old daughter. It basically feels like leaving her with a family member. It’s great that our little one has contact with other kids but it’s a small group so the risk of catching an infection is much smaller. And the best recommendation should be that our daughter happily waves us goodbye in the morning.

Best childminder

5 stars

Dorota is a great childminder. Once we found and chose her, we never regretted our decision. Her house is impeccably clean, with toys constantly available for the children to choose from. She lives next to a park which the children get to go to all the time. Each day Dorota is out with the children in the woods and surrounding parks.
She cooks delicious homemade meals which our son loved. He learnt table manners and routines around meal times which also made our life easier at home.
Our son was always excited for his day ahead with Dorota and smiled when he saw her in the morning.
