About Me
My name is Nikki Young and I have lived in Wokingham for the past 24 years. I have a lovely spacious setting alongside the main home in a quiet lane in Winnersh with large front and back gardens with plenty of space for play and discovery. My setting has proven very popular with children of all ages.
My Experience
I have been childminding for over 5 years and have had the satisfaction of seeing two cohorts through to their reception year at school. I have taken the necessary Ofsted & first aid courses to ensure the care I deliver for your child exceeds the required standards for care and safety. I encourage kindness and social interactions between the children and ensure they are exposed to different activities to develop key skills for learning and the children are well prepared for their transition into infant school.
I provide regular feedback on activities and professional child development reports so that parents remain engaged with their children whilst they are at work and can have meaningful conversations to encourage language skills. Younger children are encouraged to take first steps in toilet training and self sufficiency in preparation for the foundation year in nursery.
My Qualifications
I have completed Ofsted certification and paediatrics first aid training. My Ofsted provision has been graded as GOOD - refer to my inspection report. All compliance certification shall be displayed in my setting.
My Availability
I provide full-time regular day-care during the week from 0730 - 1730 Monday to Thursday. No availability at present but expect openings from start of September term.
My Fees
- Childminding from £7.00 per hour
Snacks and drinks inclusive of fees. I am able to accept childcare vouchers and a member of HMRC tax free payment scheme.
My Local Schools
- I provide drop offs and pick ups at Wheatfield Academy

As a first-time mum, I was so nervous about putting my son into childcare, but from our very first meeting with Nikki, she instantly put us at ease. She was so warm, welcoming, and genuine, and our son warmed to her straight away. She made us feel truly heard and honestly felt like someone we had known for years.
Nikki’s years of experience in childcare really shine through, alongside the fact that she is such an amazing mum herself. She has built such a wonderful setting with an experienced and caring team of assistants, all of whom are fantastic with the children.
My son settled in so well and absolutely thrived in Nikki’s care. It genuinely felt like we were leaving him with family every day. Nikki is incredibly patient, kind, and caring, and there was never a day where she didn’t greet us with a smile. It was so clear to see how much all the children adored her.
Our little one built such lovely bonds not only with the other children in her care. Even now, over two months since we left, he still talks about Nikki and his friends from her setting.
We were genuinely so sad to leave Nikki’s setting when we moved abroad, and she has honestly set such a high benchmark for us when it comes to childcare.
Thank you so much, Nikki, for everything. We will always be so grateful for the love and care you gave our little boy.

Our 2 year old daughter has been with Nikki now for well over a year. From day one she loved attending and asks to go to Nikki even on weekends and during holidays. Nikki’s setting is by far the best and child friendly we have seen, with plenty of green space for children to safely play, trampoline or ride their bikes. Separate from the main house there is a newly build bungalow with play room, kitchen and bathroom facilities for children to use.
Our daughter enjoys all the activities on offer and she gets on well with the other children.
Nikki is very reliable and has helped us a lot when we needed out of hours childcare or advice.
We have been lucky to find her.
