About Me
Hi! Welcome to my profile. I'm 44 years old and recently moved to Glossop from Jersey. Historically, I worked as a Combined Control and Major Incident Support Officer, for both Jersey’s Ambulance Service and Fire & Rescue. I have also worked in both mainstream and specialist school provisions on-island and worked as an auxiliary nurse for 15 years in geriatrics. I founded and ran my own therapeutic clinic, Ahava Wellbeing and Mum & Bucket, an eco-friendly cleaning and home help service. I am a Mum of 3 adult children, 2 adult stepchildren and 2, long-term adult foster children, with one long-term, little one still at home with me! (I began my fostering journey in 2000 and I am still fostering today.) Children, psychology, metaphysics, trauma, neuroscience, neurodivergence, mindfulness, meditation, wellbeing, reading, music, animals, being in nature, creativity and Spirituality are my passions! I am also a Reiki Master/Teacher, meditation facilitator, trauma informed, autism, ADHD, ODD, attachment disorder and intellectual/learning/physically disabled/challenged, (SEND) trained, experienced and informed therapeutic foster parent, amongst other things - phew! I, myself, am diagnosed Autistic and ADHD. I am LGBTQIA friendly, open and accepting of all family types and religions.
My Experience
As mentioned above, I have vast and diverse, parenting experiences. Understandably, I have undergone an array of training and developmental courses, to include: first aid (advanced due to my emergency services position), safeguarding, risk management, CEOPS, management of difficult behaviours (symptoms/communication!), dealing with emotional development delay, advocating for the child (child-centred care) and various others, to include vocational experience in both junior SEND and mainstream school provisioning. I am caring, inclusive, non-judgemental, resilient, out-of-the-box thinking, compassionate, reliable, patient, responsible and fun! I have a full clean driving licence and my own car, can swim and love to work with all companion animals around too.
My Qualifications
Foster carer training, Dip EMD, Dip EFD, Dip Ed Psych, Dip Child Development, Dip Metaphysics, Dip LSA (speech and language focus), AET, extensive first aid training, fire safety, numerous vocational, voluntary and life experience! If there’s anything specific, please ask: the list is extensive.
