After School Nanny Job in Kenley
About Me
Looking for a Fun, Energetic Homework Nanny / Tutor for Our 9-Year-Old
We are looking for a fun, energetic and academically confident person to spend time with our 9-year-old son, who will be starting Year 5 in September.
This is a bit of a combination role: part childcare, part tutor, part homework helper!
We are not looking for someone to simply supervise or babysit. We would love to find someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, can make learning fun and interesting, and can help Hugo build confidence and get ahead academically.
During the summer holidays, we are looking for someone for a couple of hours a day. The time should include a mixture of learning and fun — reading together, maths games, science activities or experiments, creative writing, projects, trips to the library and other interesting ways of learning. We do not want it to feel like sitting at a desk doing worksheets for hours!
The aim is to give him a good head start for Year 5, identify any gaps and help him feel confident and ahead of the game when he goes back to school.
During term time, the role would continue after school, ideally Tuesday to Thursday, approximately 5:00–7:00 pm.
The idea is that when we get home, homework is done, reading has been completed and he has had some positive, focused learning time. Then our evenings together can be for relaxing and having fun as a family rather than arguing about homework!
We would love someone who can support him with:
* Homework and school projects
* English, reading and comprehension
* Maths
* Science
* Spelling and writing
* Building good learning habits and confidence
We are looking for someone with genuine teaching or tutoring ability — ideally a qualified teacher, experienced primary tutor, teaching assistant, trainee teacher or education student with strong experience of the UK primary curriculum.
Just as importantly, you need to be fun! Hugo responds best to people who are energetic, interesting and know how to connect with children. We want someone who can turn learning into games, challenges, experiments and conversations rather than making every session feel like extra school.
We are hoping to find someone who can start during the summer holidays and then continue with us regularly during the school year. Ideally, we would love this to become a consistent, long-term relationship with someone Hugo enjoys spending time with and looks forward to seeing.
