I'm an upbeat, DBS-certified nanny in my mid-20s, with 10 years' international childcare experience, and specialist experience with SEN and newborns. Down-to-earth, patient, half-kiwi, half-Ukrainian, godmother, volunteer, community organiser.
I love creative play with kids, having lots of outdoors time, engaging in cultural/educational activities, getting a bit muddy, and building enthusiasm for reading and writing. I have taught children skills ranging from language practice to knitting to ukulele (I have a spare one that can take a few scratches). I have an MA and have recently left my job as a UK Government policy advisor for communities to spend more time with... communities, especially kids! Flexible, open to last-minute enquiries (I know how it is!).
My Experience
Weekly volunteer Playworker at charity for children and adults with learning disabilities (2014-15).
Au Pair in Oldenburg, Germany (Summer 2014) and Berlin, Germany (Summer 2015-16). This involved live-in experience with newborns, and round-the-clock care for some truly fantastic kids with autism and ADHD that I feel blessed to have learned from.
8 years babysitting experience with families in Greater London, Edinburgh, and Wellington, New Zealand.
4 years experience as a tutor and childminder to a lovely family in Edinburgh, again for kids with SEN.
My Qualifications
British Sign Language level 1, basic Makaton skills, DBS certification.
My Availability
I am open to a number of childcare/living arrangements, and am willing to discuss both full-time and part-time roles with the right family.
