About Me

My name is Katie Rule and I am 27
years old, In one of my previous positions I was working in a primary special needs school teaching English, although I am not a qualified teacher my role at the school was to deliver the English lessons to all the children within it. As well as this my role in the school also encompassed aspects of home/personal care for the children with significant issues as well as being the personal tutor of two students and mentoring them. The children in the school have additional needs not limited to but including AHD, Autism Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, and learning difficulties. The age group of the children here was primarily 11-18 with some younger primary school aged children. Also whilst under employment of Cressey college I worked on another site which is part of the whole school establishment in a primary setting so I have experience teaching and working with primary and secondary aged children. For my future career plans I aspire to be a teacher, hopefully by completing a PGCE, after I have completed my degree. I have completed a 1 of 2 year programme in a Cache diploma in Childcare and Education Level 3 which I consequently left to complete my A Levels for a broader studying programme. However through completing a year of this course I learnt much about childcare practice in nurseries and in general and all knowledge that comes through this course, as well as being placed in nurseries during this time for work experience with this age group.


I have worked as a nanny in London and in Europe as a nanny, where I worked with families with children primarily aged between 3 and 17 spanning ages right through this. I believe this has given me great experience working with younger aged children on a sole charge basis. I have always really enjoyed this type of work because I have a great affinity for children and enjoy looking after, playing with them and all activities related to their care and development. I am always punctual, reliable and conscientious when looking after children maintaining child safety and promoting a positive, encouraging and secure environment for them at all times. I am fluent in English as I was born in London and also speak conversational French and Spanish, I also know the London area particularly south west, west and central london very well and know of a number of great places to take children on outings. As I have worked in both mainstream and special needs settings I am comfortable with both although I currently have a particular interest in working in the special needs sector as I am passionate about working within this sector and making a positive difference in as many children's lives as I work with.
