My Requirements

We need help Monday – Friday 7.30 – 6.30, occasionally covering bedtime and doing 1-2 nights babysitting a week, with occasional overnights and proxy parenting. It will be mainly sole charge with some shared care during holidays. We are searching for someone who is enthusiastic, energetic, organised, tidy, responsible and reliable. We are a fun, happy, busy family and so it is important to us that our nanny is upbeat and can be a third pair of hands in teaching our children to be kind, caring people with good manners. We want someone who can guide and care for our boys but doesn’t feel the need to hover over them. We believe that children need to make their own fun, with guidance, and so pushing them out into the garden or into the playroom to amuse themselves is encouraged! We really enjoy the outdoors so are looking for someone who is outdoorsy, and happy taking the boys on rides, walks, bike rides and kick a football when required. You will need to enjoy cooking and understand dietary requirements in order to prepare healthy well-balanced meals. The boys have some food allergies so you will need to be happy to accommodate those.

Our boys are loving, well-behaved (on the most part!) and will give the right person a lot of fun, laughter and love. The eldest is in Year 3, the middle in Yr 1 and our youngest will start at nursery in April 2 mornings a week with increasing sessions before he starts school in September 2023. Our two eldest boys are great friends and love playing together with their lego, cars, planes etc. They also like doing a bit of cooking and some arty things. The eldest loves his encyclopaedia and atlas. Our middle boy loves music and drawing too. Both are very good at entertaining themselves and are happy to be in the garden playing or on the climbing frame or bikes. The youngest just spends his time trying to keep up with his brothers! He’s a relaxed and independent little boy who loves chatting to everyone and anyone and thrives on company.

We have a 15h horse for hacking and a 12h pony for pony club activities. Our ideal candidate would have experience with caring for and exercising horses. You would be welcome to hack out in your downtime.


Typical responsibilities will include:
• Giving children their breakfast
• Dropping boys at school and collecting.
• Attend playgroups/ activities with youngest / play with him.
• Prepare boys’ lunch
• Do all children’s laundry, keep their bedrooms tidy, clothes organised and beds made.
• Assisting in household organisation.
• A weekly food plan for boys.
• Doing small errands (such as post office/buying milk)
• Help with homework and school work including music practice
• Taking boys to afterschool activities
• Fun play/ activities with the children at home and also trips during school holidays as appropriate.
• Prepare and give children their tea
• Ensure all communal areas are kept clean and tidy, and children’s toys are organised and sorted
• Start bath/ bed time and put in bed if we aren’t home
• 1-2 week nights babysitting
• Shared responsibility for horses and chickens


We have a lovely home with a big garden and swimming pool in Great Offley which is a picturesque village in north-east Hertfordshire just outside Hitchin. You will have your own 2 bedroom cottage. We are only 31 miles from Central London – just over an hour’s drive. The train from Hitchin takes approx. 35mins into St Pancras. There is lots to do in the surrounding area with or without the boys – whether enjoying Whipsnade Zoo, National Trust properties or the local towns of Hitchin, Harpenden or St Albans. We even have skiing (at Hemel Snowdome) 30 mins away! There’s also a good nanny network and we can make sure that we can introduce you to that. A tolerance of chickens and dogs also desirable – we have the former and would like to get the latter!


Dad is away 3-4 nights a week in London whilst Mum works from home 2-3 days a week. Mum therefore needs you to be a reliable righthand person who is happy to be flexible. You will need to be a confident car driver. A car is provided. There may well be opportunities to travel abroad with us during holidays and a possibility of occasional use of a flat in London at weekends.
