Maternity Nurse in East Dorset District (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
Highly Experienced Maternity Nurse, Early Years Sleep Supporter
About Me
I am a dedicated and compassionate Maternity Nurse. I provide calm, reassuring support to families during the early weeks of parenthood.
I take pride in my professional, discrete and adaptable approach, I have supported a wide range of families in the UK and internationally. My aim is always to provide expert care while helping parents feel informed, supported and confident.
My Experience
I am a compassionate and highly experienced Childcare Professional with over 36 years of experience, including more than 23 years as a Professional Maternity Nurse and previously 13 years as a sole-charge Live-in Nanny for newborns and siblings.
I provide expert newborn and postnatal care, supporting families with feeding, routines, sleep, and parental confidence. I have extensive experience caring for babies with reflux, CMPA (Cow's Milk Protein Allergy), allergies, circumcision care needs, premature babies, twins, triplets, and babies requiring specialist care.
I work closely with each family to establish routines that suit their individual needs while offering calm, practical support throughout the postnatal period. My responsibilities include newborn care, feeding support, medication administration, nursery duties, baby laundry, accompanying families to medical appointments, and acting as a trusted proxy parent when required.
I have worked with a wide range of families, including single parents and same-sex parents, on placements from a few days to over six months, both within the UK and internationally.
I prefer to have Saturday's as time off in the day and weekends off are very nice. I often find families have a busy life at weekends with family and friends visiting and my support is often not needed after the first few weeks.
I am happy to work continuously for the first 2-3 weeks for Mums who had a c-section or a difficult birth. I have also stayed in hospital with mum and baby to provide support post birth or during treatment like phototherapy for jaundice.
I help families to learn new evening habits to help their 1-4year old have a settled bedtime, to get to sleep earlier without lots of tears but with a firm consistent approach and to sleep till morning with the same firm consistent approach to night time waking.

We engaged Paula to sleep-train our son and can honestly say it worked faster than we dared hope. We had tried and failed at this ourselves more than once, so our expectations were modest. Paula was very kind but firm, drew on genuine experience, and had things sorted within days rather than the weeks we had braced for. The knock-on effects have been the real prize: consistent bedtimes, a much happier child in the daytime, and evenings we now actually get to enjoy as a family, and as a couple. Cannot recommend her highly enough.
