About Me

Professional nanny with 20 years’ childcare experience in London ranging from children aged 10 months to teens. Most of these years have been in North London (East Finchley/Hampstead areas), and South West London (Richmond, Putney, Wimbledon).

I am currently employed three days per week already and seeking a casual, one day per week position (Tue OR Fri only, afternoon/evening only, or potentially Saturdays) in an environment that is supportive, and where there is mutual respect towards each other.

My outlook on childcare is somewhat traditional, where I believe more in active, rather than passive interaction, which means talking, reading, creative arts, music, socialising with friends, and activities instead of televisions and computers. I think that children should develop an ability to think for themselves, with creative imaginations being a healthy form of development. I also believe that children will flourish when they are treated with respect and know their boundaries, which can be exercised through routine and discipline, with some degree of discretion and flexibility. This would mean homework or music practice at set times, keeping them occupied, and encouraging them in their extra-curricular activities. Expanding their general knowledge and life skills through encounters in day to day scenarios are also important, as I think that most learning is done outside school. Depending on age, an example of this might be to persuade them to think for themselves as to which bus/train to get onto, instead of simply following the adult. I would also place a high emphasis on morals, ensuring they clearly know the difference between right and wrong. However, I am also very understanding and patient, and I appreciate that part of growing up is trying things out by trial and improvement, which means that, on occasion, children get things wrong.

I am very logical and methodical in my approach, and I believe I exercise common sense when I need to take my own initiative. I wouldn’t mind joining in sporting activities, such as cycling or swimming, as I enjoy the outdoors. I am a flexible person and can provide sole charge cover at short notice during the evenings. I have a paediatric first aid certificate as well as a DBS certificate. I have previously been OFSTED-registered (expired 2021 as not needed for my current position). I can provide credible and contactable character references, should you require them. I do not smoke, and am in good health. I also appreciate the need for security and discretion in a family home.
