I am a mother to four children my daughters are 27 and 21, my sons 18 and 16, i am also now a grandma to 4 girls aged 2 to 7, I'm very experienced with children but I feel there are always new things to learn when it comes to parenting. I was living 27 years in London but I am very happy that I relocated my family back to the North East. In 2017.
I am a Midwife, Maternity Nurse, Nanny & Holistic Therapist. I am also a qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor, Baby Massage & Antenatal Teacher, also a Home, Water & Active Birth Advocate. I also am very passionate about my role as Angelic Reiki Master Teacher. I am also a practitioner and I offer the Angelic Reiki along side some other Holistic Aesthetic Therapies. I enjoy teaching private antenatal classes and really enjoy working as a Doula, a non medical birth supporter. I am also a poet and am working on my first book.
I am registered with the;
Nursing and Midwifery Council & Royal College of Midwives.
I am also a member of the Association of Radical Midwives
& Breastfeeding Network.
I worked in possibly now the largest hospital in Europe for approximately 12 years as a band 6 Midwife. I Graduated with a 2:1 in a Batchelor of Science Degree with honours at City University & St Bartholomews School of Nursing and Midwifery. Prior to that I completed Access to Nursing & Health Professions Course at College.
In 2017 I resigned from my NHS Midwifery possible the politics and understaffing were the primary factors in my choice to leave the NHS.
I now study public Health, nutrition, meditation and mindfulness. I am very fortunate that my property investments have allowed me the financial security to resign early and do what makes me feel happy as well as giving me time with the family.
I loved midwifery but the lengthy documenting is very time consuming, I enjoy being face to face with women and their families, not just pen pushing !! I enjoy listening to women and supporting them to make informed choices about childbirth, which is much more rewarding than all the paper work in the NHS.
I love private work as I can get to know my clients, listening and communication is so much better than behind a pile of audits and note in NHS as well as time restraints.
I am extremely confident as a mother and grandmother, having excellent skills as a child caregiver . I can care for newborns and up to teenage years as well as those with challenging behaviour or disabilites.
Continuous professional development means I update my skills regularly in first aid, resucitation, and safe guarding children courses. I have recently been studying mindfulness, meditation and how to have a calmer birth and baby.
Additionally I am often updating & adding to the wealth of modules regarding children’s development, disabilities, safe guarding, nutrition, health and hygiene and other home study courses to complement working as a practitioner or caregiver within different areas of the diverse areas of women’s and children’s services.
Before Midwifery, I worked in Holloway Prison as a charity worker in the mother and baby unit as well as the hospital. We would give birth support to women in custody and often take photographs for them as cameras are forbidden in. Prison. I also volunteered and cared for the elderly as a befriender for Age Concern Charity. This was a starting point for me before going back into education after mothering.
Prior to being a midwife I worked as a doula for a few years and I spend lots of time helping mother's look after their children. Additionally I've worked as a carer for a wheelchair bound Jewish lady, also assisting in the care of her challenging teen son with autism. Now I am currently learning more about different disabilities such as autism and ADHD.
As a doula before midwifery and also again quite recently, I developed lots of experience dealing with women and their families, it's not just about working with mothers and the newborn baby, we also help the mother with their other children at times. Especially when doing home births.
Additionally I worked for a surestart program from national new pin and this was wonderful starting point for me I started working as a befriended for this charity assisting women with risk of postnatal depression or antenatal depression I found this very interesting.

A very relaxed and cheerful lady. I feel confident leaving my baby in her care.
I'm glad to have accessed her services and not only do I have a qualified midwife for advice as I am currently pregnant again!!
I have a carer for my daughter and a friend.
I found her very educated and a natural at sending of my baby girl to sleep !
Thanks You Susannah
Very reliable and friendly lady. We were looking for a babysitter that we could depend on at short notice as well and Lisa also fits the bill.
Lisa is a bright and knowledgeable person and very easy to get on with. Would not hesitate to use her again.
