About Me

EXPANDING - SPACES AVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 2026

My name is Claire, I am 49 years old and live in Hengrove. I love working with children and have dedicated my life with helping children to be healthy, stay safe and develop into well rounded, confident individuals.

I have a level 3 qualification in childcare and a PGCE certificate in education with qualifications in Psychology and Science, and have worked with children of all ages, ethnicities, backgrounds and special educational needs. I have also been a Mother for the last 10 years.

I have considerable experience in supporting young children in developing their creativity, literacy, numeracy, emotional and social skills through constructive play and share these development plans with parents and main carers through daily verbal dialogue, an online family learning feed, photos, termly early years assessments and newsletters.

I have three female assistants that work at the setting. We have recently expanded, so we are able to meet the needs of more families and provide better care.

Team members include Alana, who is an Ofsted level 2 trained childminder with a background in Nursing, she has a vast amount of experience in the care sector and is also a Mother.

We all have cheerful and bubbly personalities with empathic natures.

Nine months ago, Kacey joined our team and is currently training with us. She has already successfully completed her level 2 in childcare, safeguarding and first aid. We are excited to be sharing our skills and to have a younger person on our team.

Ellie joined us in April, she has qualifications in both nannying and a level 2 in childcare. Ellie has had ten years of experience working with young children in nurseries, and in homes and loves working with children.

Both Kacey and Ellie are keen to assist parents with any baby sitting requirements you may have or holiday cover when we are closed.

We all aim to create close and caring bonds with the children in our setting, which in we know will lead to a secured attachment style during the most important phase of their emotional and social development.

We are professional and consistent, and provide a stimulating environments both inside and outside of the setting.

We are child centred, with a large emphasis on play and children making their own choices. Adult led activities are also planned linked to the changes in season, different cultures, faiths and public holidays.

Our approach includes lots of activities such as park visits and picnics, messy play, soft play, gardening and sight seeing. Children are encouraged to express themselves through singing, dancing, arts, crafts, cooking and educational books and toys with others.

Local children’s groups and activities are attended to provide social experiences and a chance to make new friends. We may also team up with other Ofsted registered minders to share resources and positive experiences.

We have three garden areas for children to play. One grass area, an allotment, a messy play and wooden 'Montessori' style forest area with loose parts. Your child can also sleep outside on request if this style of napping is preferential to you.

The nursery extended its hours, starting September Term 2025 to allow for the use of the full 30 free funded hours. Opening will be from 8-6pm Tuesday- Thursday, term time (only £20 a month is charged to parents as added fees for trips, petrol and messy play resources).

The setting caters for babies and children from the age of 9 months - 3 years, with the view to children moving onto a nursery or pre-school nearest in date to their 3rd Birthday. This will prepare them for a larger learning environments and school reception.

Note: Our requires improvement grade was due to waiting excessively long processing times for staff suitability letters. All our staff have now had their paperwork through.

We had two visits from Bristol Council Childminding Support and deemed as providing a ‘good’ standard of care.

We shall be receiving continuous support through our journey as an expanding provider for Bristol families.
