About Me

We are looking for a live-out or live-in housekeeper-nanny to join our family. Our girls are Ava and Sophia, who are 11 and 9. We also have a cockerpoo named Suki.

Suki is a big puppy, super friendly and gentle, who loves tummy rubs, hugs and kisses, chasing balls, chewing sticks and watching the world go by from our bay window. My husband and I are both medical doctors working in the National Health Service.

Our girls love crafts, singing, dancing, playing games, baking, sports, reading and listening to stories. On the weekends we enjoy sport, music, reading, watching new and old movies, and watching cooking programmes. The girls play a lot of cricket and hockey through afterschool clubs and camps. Their dad can often be found watching cricket - there’s always cricket being played somewhere in the world! This year, we all got membership to surrey cricket club at the Oval and we enjoy popping to the Oval for an impromptu summer evening or weekend of cricket. I like interior design and restoring old furniture.

We live in Balham, 5 minutes walk from Balham with excellent transport links including the London Underground (the tube) and Overground stations just 5 minutes away. The area is a vibrant South London borough, regarded as one of the best places to live in London. We love that there are loads of lovely places to eat and drink so nearby and a mix of young professionals and families in the neighbourhood. We enjoy the area very much and often stroll about to local cafes and pubs. And of course Central London is 15-20 minutes away with all it has to offer. Also nearby is Clapham Junction (1 stop overground from Balham) and Kings Cross St Pancreas (on Northern Line) with vast links to Greater London and the entire UK.

The house is a large Victorian terrace with 3 floors. With the live-in option, the nanny would have comfortable accommodation on the 3rd floor. There is a double bedroom with double bed, TV, dresser and wardrobe. The room is bright, quiet and overlooks the garden. There is a bathroom next door, mainly used by the nanny and occasional guest, which has a wc, sink, bath, and separate shower. There is wi-fi and meals are included. We are equally open to a live-out arrangement.

My Requirements

Live Out Nanny
Housekeeper

In term time, the role centres on housekeeping, dog walking and afterschool care. The girls attend local schools walking distance from home. Ava has started secondary school in September which is a little further away but takes the school bus from a nearby bus stop. Driving is not essential. The housekeeping involves (general tidying, cooking simple meals and laundry for the family. Deep cleaning is an option but not essential as we can arrange a cleaner to visit weekly. We would also appreciate babysitting once or twice a week (typically on weekdays) and help for 4 hours on Saturday mornings if possible.

The hours are c 30-35 hrs per week. The position would suit someone who would like to live and/or work in a vibrant, well-connected part of London and eg pursue interests or language lessons as there will typically be free time in the mornings. Our last nanny for example worked at lunch time at a local school toward her starting as a Teachers Assistant last September. We have had previous nannies and au pairs use the daytime to study language and other part time courses. Hours will vary/may be more in the holidays but the girls typically attend a variety of camps and clubs.

The kids have busy schedules so being organised is important.

Since the girls were babies, we have always had a live-in and know how important it is to feel welcome and comfortable in a new home and whilst at work.

The position is available from Jan 2023 onwards, ideally for a minimum of 1 year.
