About Me
We are a warm, friendly family of six living in central Shrewsbury, with four children aged 8, 6, 4 and 5 months.
We are looking for a wonderful, experienced part-time nanny, primarily to care for our baby while our three older children are at school/nursery. We are particularly keen to find someone who genuinely enjoys caring for babies and is warm, confident and experienced with this age.
We would love to find someone reliable, kind and capable who will get to know our whole family and ideally stay with us longer-term as the role evolves. There would also be the opportunity for regular evening babysitting and occasional care of our older children.
Alongside our search for a part-time nanny, we are also looking for some additional housekeeping/home help. These can be completely separate roles, although we would be very happy to hear from someone whose experience and interests span both.
For the housekeeping role, we are initially looking for around 5–6 hours per week to help with the general running of our busy family home. Our main priorities are laundry and ironing, including washing, drying, folding and putting clothes away, changing beds and managing bedding and towels, alongside general cleaning, tidying and household organisation.
We are hoping to find someone trustworthy, efficient and proactive who is comfortable working independently and, over time, gets to know our home and what needs doing. There may also occasionally be other household jobs, such as sorting children’s clothes, organising cupboards or putting away a food delivery, depending on time.
We are flexible about how the housekeeping hours are arranged and would consider either one longer session or splitting the hours across two days. Childcare experience is not required for the housekeeping role.
Above all, we hope to find lovely, dependable people who will become a trusted part of our family’s support.
My Requirements
We are looking for an experienced, warm and reliable part-time nanny/housekeeper to care primarily for our 5-month-old baby and provide some additional support around our family home.
Hours: We are initially looking for two full weekdays per week (approximately 8 hours per day), plus one regular evening of babysitting each week (approximately 4 hours). This would be around 20 hours per week in total. There may be scope for additional hours or a third daytime in the future, and we can offer some flexibility around days for the right person.
The daytime role will include:
• Sole-charge care of our baby, including feeds, naps, play, walks and age-appropriate activities/groups
• Supporting his development and, as he gets older, weaning and preparing simple meals for him
• Helping with laundry and ironing where time allows
• Light household cleaning and tidying
• Changing beds and helping to keep bedrooms and family spaces organised
• Some simple food preparation
• Generally helping us keep on top of the day-to-day running of a busy family home
Our baby would always be the priority while in your care, and we would not expect substantial household tasks to be undertaken at the expense of attentive childcare.
We also have three older children aged 8, 6 and 4, who will generally be at school/nursery during the daytime. We would ideally like our nanny to care for all four children for one regular evening each week, allowing us to have an evening out. We are therefore looking for someone who is confident and experienced caring for siblings/multiple children.
We would love to find someone who is warm, calm, capable and genuinely enjoys caring for babies, but who is also organised and proactive around the home. Previous professional nanny or substantial childcare experience, particularly with babies, is important to us. A DBS check, paediatric first aid and strong references are essential.
We are ideally looking for someone who would like to stay with our family longer-term. The role can evolve as our baby gets older and eventually starts nursery.
There may also be opportunities for additional babysitting and occasional work when we travel in the UK or overseas, if this is something that interests you.
Start: September 2026, although we can be flexible for the right person
Location: Central Shrewsbury
Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week
Pay: £16–£18 gross per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Driving: Preferred, but not essential
Separately, we are also looking for a part-time housekeeper/home help for approximately 5–6 hours per week. The main priorities for this role would be family laundry and ironing, changing beds and managing bedding and towels, general cleaning and tidying, and helping us keep on top of the day-to-day running of our home.
We are looking for someone trustworthy, efficient and proactive who can work independently and, over time, get to know our home and what needs doing. We are flexible about whether the hours are completed in one longer session or split across two days.
The housekeeping position can be entirely separate from the nannying role, and childcare experience is therefore not required. Equally, we would be very happy to hear from someone who felt that both roles suited their experience and availability.
