My Requirements

Hi,
we are looking for a native English speaker tutor for our 7 years old homeschooled twins.

We are specifically seeking someone who understands how children learn, not someone who relies on memorisation or standard school methods.

The ideal tutor will be confident in evidence-based approaches to literacy (e.g. Science of Reading principles) and able to teach maths conceptually, building deep understanding rather than surface level performance.

The right person must be adaptable, intuitive, and able to meet them where they are academically and emotionally.

We are looking for someone who:
– Has a strong understanding of child-led or alternative education approaches
– Can teach English through decoding (not guessing or memorisation)
– Builds confidence, curiosity, and independence
– Is calm, emotionally intelligent, and observant
– Can plan engaging, thoughtful sessions tailored to the child

Sessions would take place in person in Richmond. Flexible schedule, ideally multiple sessions per week.

This role would suit someone who takes pride in their craft and is genuinely invested in how children learn not just what they produce.
