My Summary
About Me
Hello! My name is Andrea, I’m 26 and currently working as a Children’s Mental Health Practitioner in London. I deliver early intervention therapeutic support to children and young people in both primary and secondary schools. I absolutely love working with children of all ages and have a calm, caring, and playful approach.
Before moving to London, I completed my MSc in Educational Psychology in Cardiff, and my BSc in Psychology in Bristol. I’m mixed Malaysian and Irish, born and raised in Malaysia before moving to Ireland at 15.
I have experience caring for babies and children and bring a responsible, nurturing, and fun energy to any home. I’m reliable, trustworthy, and happy to support with bedtime routines, play, homework, or simply keeping your little ones safe and happy while you’re away.
My Experience
My journey with childcare began when I was just 10 years old, after the birth of my baby sister. I regularly helped my mum care for her, giving me a strong early foundation in looking after a baby from the very beginning.
When I moved to Ireland, I became a trusted babysitter for several families in my neighbourhood, caring for children ranging from infants to 11 years old. These regular babysitting experiences helped me grow in confidence and adaptability when caring for children of different ages and needs.
During secondary school, I completed a week-long placement in a Crèche and Montessori run by my cousin as part of my Transition Year work experience. I worked closely with babies and toddlers from morning to evening, gaining valuable insight into early years care and development.
One of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had was volunteering in Fiji with an organisation called Think Pacific. I spent a month living in a rural village, where I worked in a kindergarten teaching basic English, maths, and hygiene routines. I helped introduce a daily toothbrushing program in schools and ran a sports outreach programme for children in the village. It was a truly life-changing experience that deepened my passion for working with children.
Through all of these experiences, I’ve developed a strong sense of responsibility, patience, and creativity in my approach to childcare. I’m passionate about creating a safe, fun, and nurturing environment where children can thrive.
My Qualifications
Irish Leaving Certificate, Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Sociology and Master of Science in Psychology in Education
