Caroline
Maternity Nurse in Watford
My Summary
About Me
My extensive Early Years and nannying experience means that I bring much more than sleep training techniques. I consider the whole child — their development, temperament, sensory needs, emotional wellbeing, environment and individual family circumstances — when supporting sleep.
I have particular experience supporting babies, toddlers and older children, including children with additional needs, sensory differences and neurodiversity.
I offer both bespoke sleep consultancy for parents and practical overnight support as a Night Nanny, providing families with experienced, compassionate and responsive support when they need it most.
My approach is gentle, respectful and evidence-informed, with the aim of helping families achieve better sleep without using a one-size-fits-all approacSleep Consultant & Night Nanny
I am an experienced Early Years professional with over 30 years’ experience supporting babies, children and their families. Over the years, I have naturally developed a particular passion for helping families who are struggling with sleep, and this has become the main focus of my work.
I now work as a Holistic Paediatric Sleep Consultant and Night Nanny, supporting families with a gentle, responsive and individualised approach to sleep.
My Experience
My experience working closely with babies and young children has given me a deep understanding that sleep is not simply about getting a child to “sleep through the night”. Every child and family is different, and sleep can be affected by temperament, development, sensory needs, separation, changes within the family, routines, feeding, environment and many other factors.
I work with families to understand what is happening first, before creating a realistic and bespoke plan that fits their child, their parenting style and their family life. My approach is holistic, attachment-centred and respectful, with an emphasis on supporting both the child and the parents.
I can support families with a wide range of sleep challenges, including:
- Frequent night waking
- Early rising
- Difficult bedtimes
- Settling and resettling
- Contact or feeding-to-sleep associations
- Transitioning away from sleep props
- Naps and daytime sleep
- Sleep regressions and developmental changes
- Toddlers and preschool sleep difficulties
- Older children's sleep challenges
- Sensory and neurodiverse sleep needs
- Gentle transitions and changes to established sleep patterns
Alongside sleep consultancy, I offer overnight/night nanny support, providing families with practical, hands-on help during the night when they need it most.
My qualifications include an Early Years Degree, NNEB, Level 6 Holistic Paediatric Sleep Coach, Level 4 Gentle Sleep Practitioner and Level 4 Maternity Nurse qualification, alongside Paediatric First Aid and additional training in Speech and Language, SEN and Makaton.
I have extensive experience working with babies and children, including children with additional and sensory needs, and I bring this wider Early Years knowledge into my sleep work.
My aim is never to impose a one-size-fits-all method. I work alongside parents to find a gentle, achievable approach that improves sleep while respecting the individual child and the values of the family.
If you are struggling with your child's sleep and would like some professional, experienced and compassionate support, I would be very happy to have an initial conversation to see how I can help.
