My Summary
Experienced Childminder
About Me
Hello! My name is Shemsy, and I am a registered childminder based in Trumpington, where I live with my husband and our three wonderful children, aged 20, 18, and 12. With nearly 15 years of experience in childminding, I offer a safe, caring, and nurturing home-from-home environment where children can play, learn, and thrive.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with many families, and I’m proud to have received consistently positive feedback and recommendations. I take great care in building trusting relationships with both children and parents, and I understand the importance of providing consistent, supportive care tailored to each child’s individual needs and personality.
I speak English as my first language and am also fluent in Arabic and French. I enjoy bringing language and cultural diversity into my setting, which can be especially beneficial for bilingual families or children interested in learning new languages.
We enjoy a wide variety of daily activities, both indoors and out. I regularly take the children on outings to local parks, playgroups, museums, farms, the town centre, and shops—helping them explore the world around them and build social and practical skills in a fun and engaging way. These experiences are a key part of my approach, encouraging curiosity, confidence, and real-life learning.
My setting includes a variety of age-appropriate toys, books, creative materials, and outdoor play options to encourage development through play and exploration. I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to support children in reaching key developmental milestones while having fun and gaining confidence.
As a mother myself, I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to my role, helping children feel secure and happy in my care.
What I Offer:
• A warm, stimulating, and loving home environment.
• Nearly 15 years of childcare experience.
• Fluent in English, Arabic, and French.
• Regular outings to parks, playgroups, museums, farms, shops, and more.
• Flexible hours and reliable care.
• Support with early learning and development (EYFS).

If you're looking for a reliable and experienced childminder in Cambridge who genuinely cares about your child’s happiness and development, I’d love to hear from you!
Please feel free to get in touch to arrange a visit or ask any questions.
My Experience
I have been working as a registered childminder for nearly 15 years, caring for children from a wide range of ages and backgrounds— from babies as young as 6 months to school-aged children up to 11 years old. Over the years, I have supported many families in the Cambridge and Trumpington area, many of whom have returned with younger siblings or recommended my services to others.
My childminding experience includes:
Providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating home environment tailored to each child’s individual needs
Planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that support development in line with the EYFS framework
Organising regular outings to parks, playgroups, farms, museums, the town centre, and local shops to encourage learning through real-life experiences
Supporting early learning in literacy, numeracy, and language development (including multilingual support in English, Arabic, and French)
Helping children prepare for nursery and school transitions
Maintaining close communication with parents and providing regular updates on their child’s progress and wellbeing
Managing school and nursery pick-ups and drop-offs as part of a daily routine
I’m committed to ongoing learning and continually updating my skills to provide the best possible care. Being a mother of three myself, I understand the importance of patience, structure, and emotional support in helping children feel safe, confident, and happy.

We had this childminder for almost 3 years. My daughter is now 6 but still remembers her, especially the outings and crafts.
This childminder bonds deeply with children and they treat her like a family.
She teaches them about boundaries, rules and coexisting in a group.
My daughter became a great walker under her care (thanks to all extensive walks!) and was incredibly school-ready, something that this childminder is very focused on. My daughter was very well prepared to function in a group, speaking her mind calmly and sensibly.
She still misses her carer and loves the throwback to the years spent under her care.
I simply know there could be no better childminder for my daughter.

Merci beaucoup Magda.
I loved looking after "Poulpoulette". Thank you for sharing her with me :)
Shemsy looks after both my two children. My daughter, who is now 3 and a half , has been with Shemsy since she was 8 months old. She loves her time there and is thriving on the support, play and fun she experiences in her care. When the time came for me to return to work after the birth of my son (now 14 months old), there was no-one else that I wanted to look after him!
Shemsy is a wonderfully warm and caring person and puts in so much time and effort to planning activities and outings for the children. The children enjoy lots of outdoor time, and have a lot of opportunity to get involved in crafts. Shemsy takes the time to make a home from home environment and puts in a lot of time to get to know the child on an individual level. Her home has a real happy family feel and my children dote on Shemsy's children, who are a real credit to her!
I cannot recommend her services enough, she is one in a million and i feel very lucky to have found her!

My daughter has been going to Shemsy for three years since she was 8 months old. Shemsy is a kind, caring, professional childminder with an Outstanding Ofsted rating. Her house is immaculate with wonderful toys and a lovely garden for the children to play in. My daughter returns home clean, happy and well looked after every day she is with her.
She takes the children out every day and they do so many fun and educational activities like singing, playgroups, going to museums, parks, playgrounds, even the allotment and supermarket where they do things like weigh products or find items on a list.
Her family are wonderful, her own children are incredibly polite and so good with the children in her care. The older children play so nicely with the younger ones and are always kind and considerate towards them.
She always goes over and above in everything she does to provide a nurturing environment for the children. She speaks several languages and finds nice ways to bring the children's home languages and cultures into her care. I cannot recommend her service highly enough!

H. has been caring for M. on two days a week since March 2014, when he was 12 months old.
She has gone out of her way to make us both feel comfortable and at home and has been incredibly flexible. It wasn't a problem when I changed my working days, and she has often offered to work on different days if we are ill - despite no contractual obligation to do so.
She has a welcoming home, which is bright, cheerful and spotlessly clean, with lots of books and toys to play with, both inside and in the garden. They make regular trips out to play groups in term time and they also visit an assortment of local parks nearly every day. I'm confident he gets plenty of attention, but also gets to mix with other children of a similar age.
She provides healthy meals and snacks for a reasonable extra cost, and I'm very happy with the choice and variety. She has even persuaded him to eat bananas! His eating and sleeping have improved immensely in his time with her, and she is also great at encouraging his emerging speaking skills, and his enthusiasm for climbing and being outdoors.
Matthew took a long time to settle in, as he had never been cared for by anyone other than his parents previously, but she has worked hard to help him feel happy with her - and we were both equally delighted when he started to genuinely enjoy being with her, and with her family. While he was settling in she kept me updated regularly through the day by text message and email both to reassure me and to check on the best ways to soothe him. She is very open and up front - and warned us before we even signed up of her summer holiday plans. She also keeps me updated with what they have been doing each day, and has sent me some lovely photos.
I'm very happy with her care, and would not hesitate to recommend her.
