About Me
I am 30 years old, born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. I lived and worked as a professional nanny in London for four years as well as a year spent in Italy where I worked as a substitute teacher in bilingual nurseries and schools. I am now searching for my next family. For most of my life it was just me and my mother and my grandparents. We are a very close knit and loving family. My grandmother was born in Finland and it was through her that I was lucky enough to be eligible for a Finnish passport/citizenship. My mother, Sonja, is a speech and drama teacher who also runs a tour company. My father, George, lives in the UK working as a counselor at a rehabilitation centre.
My family and I all have the travel bug and have always tried to make travel a priority. I have travelled quite a lot and have learnt invaluable knowledge of other cultures, religions, food, history as well as personal growth.
I love to explore new places. Even though I lived in London I always find new and interesting places to visit. I enjoy visiting museums, art galleries, parks etc and all the incredible opportunities that the UK has to offer.
I love photography and one of my hobbies is travel and child portrait photography. As I love learning I thoroughly enjoy watching documentaries and enjoy winding down at the end of the day with a good film or series. I also love to read and listen to podcasts. I enjoy cooking and love trying to create delicious dishes in a healthy way. I have completed a TEFL course to teach English as a foreign language as well as a comprehensive nanny course including First Aid and CPR. I have also finished a Child Development and a Child Psychology course online. I would like to study children’s mental health at some point.
I have a genuine passion for working with children and guiding them as they discover their different interests and passions. As I have had such a variety of childcare roles, I am quite open to anything that I may be required to do. I adapt very well and am not afraid of hard work or a challenge. I enjoy stimulating children with educational games and outings as well as indulging their imagination and just having fun. I am very independent as well as a team player and I believe in communication. I am hard working and always give my best to what ever I take on.
I absolutely love my job and take a genuinely invested effort with my children I care for. I like to think that I bring a little magic to the kiddos lives while having the privilege to witness them discovering and learning about the world and life. How lucky am I!
My Experience
May 2022 - December 2022 Full time, live-out nanny for girl aged 12 months in Notting Hill. Standard nursery duties, proxy parenting, travel etc. Creating a safe and positive environment for the little girl to grow and flourish, playing with her, reading, arranging classes and playdates, taking her to doctor appointments.
Before this I was living in Italy and working on and off as a holiday nanny and in various nurseries and schools as an English teacher.
Took on a temporary nannying position after this but cannot disclose any information. (April - June 2023)
January 2019 - December 2020 Full time live-out nanny in Kensington looking after two children who were 3 years and 18 months old when I started. I worked 51 + hours a week, sole charge. I travelled with the family, did proxy parenting, nursery duties, potty training, teaching the eldest to read, phonics, numbers etc as well as teaching a weekly private ballet class for the little girl and her friends.
From May 2018 - December 2018 I was a full time live-in nanny in North London looking after two girls who were 13 months and 3.5 years old at the start of the position.
Ballet and dance teacher for 4 years in Cape Town, South Africa.
I have had experience babysitting for children from the age of 5 months up in various capacities over the last 10 years.
