About Me

*** I currently have no further availability *****

Hello,
My name is Alexandra (Alex). I am an English female aged 23 who has a passion for children and child development. I am a fully qualified adult nurse and currently work in A&E. Whilst i am adult trained predominantly, I have previously worked in both the paediatric intensive care unit, general medical children's wards and as part of my current role i have to complete shifts in the paediatric emergency department. I therefore am standard cpr trained (BLS) as well as Paediatric immediate life support (PILS) trained and can produce certificates to evidence this. I also have experience in a range of child care settings, including working as a nanny for 5 families, each with references and am excited to find my next family to work for and love!

My Experience

I have been a full time live in nanny for a family in Australia with 2 children aged 1 and 4 years old. My duties included sole charge of both children so all usual childcare duties such a preparing food, changing nappies, organising play dates, taking the children on days out, creating mentally stimulating age appropriate games for each child, caring for the children when they are ill, driving each child to their appointments and activities, cleaning up after the children, doing the children’s laundry and maintaining a child’s day routine and sleep sceduale. I also regularly cleaned for this family and provided meals for the entire family. Any perspective new family is welcome to get in touch with this family for a reference.

I have also “holiday nannied” (so short term basis so parents could relax whilst on holiday) in Australia for another family caring for and 11 week old baby and 2 year old (sole charge). Again all usual childcare duities, including the correct handling and storing of breastmilk/formula. A reference is available from this family as well.

Previously I was a longer term babysitter for a local family in England caring (sole charge) for 4 boys ranging from 4 years old when I began to 11 years old. This was mainly in the evenings so included maintaining the night time routine for each boy. I am in regular contact with all the families I have worked for and therefore another reference from this family is available.

Recently I worked as a nanny for 7 months looking after their baby from age 4 months to 11 months old. This role was again a sole charge role and included all usual baby care duties, including introduction of solid food and managing changing routines. This role also involved attending and participating in baby swimming lessons and other age appropriate outings. The only reason for leaving this job is I was due to return to university in September and wished to travel beforehand. However due to a very unexpected change in my personal circumstances I am now not returning until March 2020. References are available from this family if needed.

My final nannying job was for a family in Singapore, where I was responsible for caring for their children aged 4months, 2 years and 4 years. This role included planning daily outings and activities for the children, managing their dietary requirements and working with the 4 year old to improve her vocabulary and counting skills. References are available.

Each family I have worked for has become like an extension of mine own and I firmly believe in a family centred approach to every job that I have.

I have a full enhanced DBS, PILS and BLS certificates, and I hold a full clean manual drivers license, (held for over 5 years), have my own car, have extensive experience in driving with young children and fitting car seats.

I also previously worked as an online tutor for the sciences (up to A level) and maths (up to and including GCSE level). I am therefore more than happy to help with a child’s academic work from school or extra work if required.

I am a confident cook and always aim to make nutritious meals for the children I care for (and the rest of the family if desired). However I am not experienced in vegan food and therefore would not be comfortable committing to making a family’s food if this is their preference without some help/instruction. I am happy to cater for all dietary needs if given instruction and advice to begin with. I myself am gluten free and therefore understand the importance first hand of catering for dietary needs.

My mother is a foster career and I have grown up around children from many different backgrounds and understand the differences and therefore different needs of each child. I am committed to making every child feel wanted, loved and needed. I have previously been a main carer for my foster brothers due to my mother working full time and my grandmother becoming unwell. One of my foster brothers is under assessment for ASD and the other has medicated ADHD and therefore I have experience with caring for children with these extra needs.
