About Me
I am 23 years old and living in Poole. Im originally from Newcastle but just moved down to Poole to be with my partner. I’m one of 12 siblings so I come from a very big family. I attended university for 2 years from 2018-2020, however I realised it wasn’t for me and I decided to leave. I have previously worked in primary schools and a nursery for short periods of time while at school and university.
When I lived at home I usually spent most of my time helping look after my niece (3 years old) and nephew (5 years old), as I have done since they were both born.
I love spending time with them and watching them grow up. My nephew was also diagnosed with ASD, so while caring for him a lot since he was a newborn I have gained a lot of knowledge on autism and special needs.
My Experience
My niece and nephew who I regularly look after. My nephew who is now 5 is also diagnosed ASD so I have that experience with special needs children. For 3 years I was also the key babysitter for a family friend’s daughters. They were 9 months and 2 when I first started looking after them, and I stopped in 2020 due to covid and them now being old enough for school. I previously worked in a pre school for a few months and my time there with the children was brilliant and I gained a lot of experience whilst I was there. I worked closely with a child who has ASD which helped me gain an even better understanding on what it’s like working with a child with special needs in a professional setting.
