About Me
I am a professional childminder, I really enjoy spending time with children, they have a unique view of the world and I love to help them have fun whilst staying safe and learning. Life can be an adventure for children and I consider it a joy and privilege to guide and guard them.
I'm registered with Ofsted, graded 'Good' and a member of the Derbyshire Quality Childcare Network. I am a member of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY). I have appropriate insurances.
My work place is also my home which I like to be welcoming and child-friendly - it is a cliche but true when I say it is 'home from home' for my minded children.
I place emphasis on fun and friendship, courtesy, respect for others, good table manners and road safety - we keep in touch with our community police officer who speaks to the children on topical issues. Just as parents are the first educators of their children, Childminders are both carers and educators of the young and I support the growth and development of your children, monitoring their progress including the use of daily diaries to keep you informed about how your child has spent their day. This is a pet-friendly household - I have a lurcher type dog (friendly towards all) and I teach and encourage safe behaviour around animals.
I have two wonderful children who have 'grown and flown' as the saying goes and now enjoy the occasional care of my granddaughters who love to be here and the opportunity to call me by my given name rather than 'Nanny' :-)
I have been living in Stanley Common for many years, and make use of local facilities including toddler group and the vast outdoor learning arena and playground of the countryside. I also make use of child focussed
& friendly resources such as the local library.
In August 2015 I was awarded a very good 'GOOD' grade by Ofsted - my inspection report is available to view on request or via the Ofsted website.
I have been inspected by environmental services and been awarded the top Food Hygiene Rating 5*, Very Good. In addition to an Ofsted inspection, I have undergone assessment on the Family Child Care Environmental Rating Scale (FCCERS) which supports my professional status and membership of the county excellence scheme (Derbyshire Childcare Network).
My setting has excellent road access to Ilkeston, Heanor, Derby, A38, A52 and other major routes, in the event of poor winter weather conditions generally good access is maintained.
I currently work with include: Smalley Pre-school, Richardson Endowed Primary in Smalley and Stanley St Andrews
My Experience
I have been registered as a childminder since 2011. I am a mature person with real experience as a parent, aunty, grandparent and friend, I have been a foster carer and a volunteer with Home-Start (a befriending charity supporting families with children under 5yrs). I am approved to provide Community Childminding service and registered with Derbyshire Quality Childcare Scheme.
My home is within walking distance of Stanley Common CofE Primary School and often attend Stanley Common Toddler Group. I presently work with children attending Stanley St Andrews Primary School and Smalley Richardson Endowed Primary School - I have excellent co-operative relations with schools and childcare settings. Other schools & pre-schools can be considered subject to matching availability/requirements.

Please contact me for place availability - part time and before and after school places are available and am happy to look into future needs for new parents who may be returning to work or moving into the area.
I provide all day, part-time and wrap around care (school runs) and holiday care.

My Fees
I provide interested parents with an information pack.
I am approved to provide funded care for 2,3 and 4yr old children.
As each family has different needs, please contact me to discus your requirements, I can then give you a personal quotation.
