I have my own brand new car seats and buggy’s (all ages) available along with a full clean driving licence.

I am a confident and dedicated individual who has good listening and communication skills. I am a motivated worker and keen to do voluntary work. I see myself as a very committed individual and someone who is willing to try new things, including widening my experience with working and looking after children. I have achieved the qualification in HNC childhood practice in August 2018. This has created a enthusiastic work ethic for my self-esteem which has allowed me to work within a nursery in Broughty ferry (1.5 year) and gain a strong relationship with not only the children but the families too. I am well kept up to date with necessary guidelines and policies in the childcare sector (especially regarding covid-19).

My Experience

2020&2021 coronavirus information.
I would like to make everyone who is interested in my profile aware that I am keeping myself updated and trained with all information regarding Covid-19 and the necessary action to take when looking after children. Along with, taking this situation very seriously to help assist families and jet workers who need to work during this time. With previous experience in certain circumstances I am completely qualified in regards to personal hygiene and health and safety regarding cleaning materials etc. However, within my job it is clear that it is impossible to keep the social distancing measures with children under a certain age. This would be difficult as they still need their main aspects of care needs in order to grow as individuals. I believe, that the distancing would be unfair on the children therefore with what I have learnt from training I understand some parents may not agree. This is also ok. If you have any question or queries or examples on how I would continue to take care of your children, with everything that is going on then please just email and ask. Thank You.

Currently working on Wednesdays before and after school for a family I have started after Covid (8-10am and 3-7pm). It is working well and we are getting along really well with the appropriate measures for Covid standards.

January 2020 - March 2020 nannied for a family with twins and three dogs.
I have currently been working part time at Tesco 3days a week. This leaves Tuesdays and Wednesday available to help the family out. However my goal is to leave Tesco when it is fit to do so after covid has gone due to unreliable self-employment opportunities for nanny’s from the government.
When helping this family out I was doing my best with creating a strong relationship with twins. I would arrive at 8am in the morning feed them, get them dressed and do many activities with them indoor and outdoors. This is honestly what I love to do, the opportunity this family gave me created relationships where I could work to my highest ability, especially when it came to housework. I also took them to and from nursery then give them tea and my hours would varried to the hours of mum and dad busy work schedule which we worked around each week. Unfortunately due to covid the family got a bit on edge with the situation and I lost contact with them over the lockdown period. This was really not how I hoped to have gone with things but I tried my hardest.
British Red Cross Relief Community Support Worker:
August 2019 - January 2020.
I have recently went back part time at Tesco as a supervisor. This job is creating a steady income whilst I go in-between families. I believe it is also helping me learn more management, money and team work skills. Gaining more responsibilities eg time management, key holder, closing and opening the business. Focusing on my staff along with the customers within the business. I am still learning but I am also still aware this is not what I want for my career. - January-Present 2020.

Early years practitioner: September 2018 – August 2019
Nursery Rhymes Broughty ferry.
More information; When experiencing my HNC I worked here for my placement space from January-May and then helped them during the summer. This involved building strong relationships with the staff and the children. These relationships allowed me to create strong bonds within my work ethic and helped me be able to work with all ages of the setting. Going into the job my skills and qualities have enhanced greatly through the work with close colleagues and children. I have gotten into the routine of plan no and evaluating my plans however, I have yet to become a key worker. This shows I have good organisation skills and a high work ethic, I am fully interested in becoming a key workers and expanding my skills and qualities fully.
Voluntary Work: January – October 2016 Pam Bowie (Owner of Solto Gymnastics Club)
More information; I also volunteered for a while at Salto Gymnastics Club, as an assistant coach which is letting me to help younger people to become more active and I has given myself a chance to become more confident in being around a coaching/teaching atmosphere. This has allowed me to have experience with children and gain skills such as; positive attitude to learning, flexible approaches to solving problems, an understanding of the atmosphere and responsibilities for example time keeping, appearance and customer care. By working with younger people, I have realised this is a good way to build my confidence to work with all sorts of ages, this gains skills in communication and people skills. When working as a coach I can be more independent when proceeding specific jobs.
Voluntary Work: September 2016-2017 Action for children, Housing Association
More Information; Within my voluntary position I done 7-week training with the action for children association. I am extremely excited about achieving this opportunity as it is going to help me have wider idea of the parenting and family orientated environment. I will be undertaking more contact with children and taking the pressure off the parents by getting to look after children and give them experiences that their parents might not be able to do whilst tackling with work etc.

My Qualifications

HNC Childhood Practice, First Aid CPD approved. Food safety and hygiene level 2 achieved. SSSC registered and PVG Check.

My Availability

Updated every two weeks due to Tesco rota (Tesco 3days a week) flexible. Willing to quit Tesco for a full time nannying position (Wednesday has been taken from a family)

Below are the latest reviews for Sophie S. Please note that reviews represent the subjective opinions of other Childcare.co.uk members and not of Childcare.co.uk. Parents must carry out their own checks and references on childcare providers to ensure that they are completely happy before enaging in the use of their services.

Sophie is very child focused and realises each child has individual needs based on personality or age and stage of development. She is well organised and pays particular attention to safety. The children always had great fun with her, even when focused on educational tasks. Sophie also communicates well and is very committed to her job. I highly recommend her.
