My Requirements

We are looking for an after school nanny / home help / babysitter from approx 3-6pm 3 days per week, term time only (hours available in school holidays by mutual agreement). The role is for maternity cover, for a minimum of 6 months from January 2026 to a maximum of 12 months (8 weeks notice of any changes will be provided).

The role needs a someone with a car as my younger son is will be at school approx a 20 min drive away (the older one walks himself home from a different school) and supervising them at home and cooking a simple meal for them. Business insurance needed for car, mileage paid @45p per mile.

They are mostly happy to entertain themselves, but we would like someone who is happy to chat and engage with them, organise occasional activities, trips to the park, cooking, playing games, kicking a ball around etc and help with small amounts of homework. We would also love somebody who will help around the house eg empty the dishwasher, put a load of washing on etc if the boys are both on screens etc.

We are looking for someone to be more of a friend / elder sibling / fun relative to the boys rather than a traditional nanny role so if you like minecraft / fortnite / star wars / harry potter or pokemon it will be a great starting point (but if not don't worry - I know nothing about half of these).

The boys are neurodiverse and respond best to a laid back approach, and often don't want to be in the same room as each other, but thrive on 1:1 attention.

We would need you to have a DBS (or to get one) and we are also looking for someone who is (or is willing to be) Ofsted registered (it is quite simple to do and we would cover all costs).

I currently work from home so will be in the house but mostly on the laptop upstairs, although I may be in London approx once per fortnight.
