Hi, I'm Ben. I'm based in Leeds and offer babysitting in families' own homes, primarily during evenings and weekends, although I can also be flexible with daytime availability.
I'm friendly, patient and easy to get along with, and I enjoy spending time with children and getting to know their different personalities and interests. I'm happy to get involved in games and activities, help with homework or simply keep things calm and relaxed around bedtime.
My professional background is in NHS project management, and I'm also involved in voluntary community work, including first aid.
I understand how important it is for parents to feel comfortable leaving their children with someone else. My approach is to be reliable, approachable and attentive, while respecting each family's routines, expectations and ways of doing things.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and a Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) qualification.
My Experience
I've had experience with children in a range of settings, both through volunteering and growing up around childcare. My mother ran an after-school club and later managed a nursery, so I was introduced to caring for children from a young age. I've also volunteered with children in care through Leeds City Council, working with young people who had experienced difficult circumstances, as well as volunteering with children with additional needs.
I previously volunteered as a Community First Responder with Yorkshire Ambulance Service and have since completed my Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) qualification. I also volunteer in community first aid. These experiences have helped me develop the ability to stay calm, assess situations and respond appropriately when things don't go to plan.
My professional work in project management, particularly within NHS workforce and education, has also involved supporting and developing people, communicating effectively and taking responsibility.
When looking after children, I believe in finding the right balance between being someone they can have fun with and being a responsible adult they can feel safe and comfortable around. I understand that every child is different, and I always aim to follow the parents' guidance while adapting to the individual child's needs.
My Qualifications
I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and a Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) qualification.
I previously volunteered as a Community First Responder with Yorkshire Ambulance Service and currently volunteer in community first aid, providing first aid cover at community events.
I'm also planning to complete a paediatric first aid qualification and further childcare and safeguarding training to build on my existing skills and experience.
My Availability
Flexible, but can't do full days during the day time.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £13.00 per hour
My standard babysitting rate starts at £13 per hour. I'm happy to discuss arrangements depending on the number and ages of children, the hours required and any additional responsibilities.
